This is the guide I used when I swapped mine out for a later one

Once installed you then need to follow this reset and relearn adaptions procedure

No, sooner or later 5-series will be covered. The problem with Alpina is not that the TCU is not matching, the problem is (most likely) the E/M Shifter. E-Series has mechanical parking lock and mechanical gear lever, 5-series has the electronic one.

So xHP will support 5-series, but don't nail me down on a timeline. Lot's of things to do the next months and I have not decided yet, which cars will come next after 3-series.

Does this mean that the E8x crowd will be able to get the TCU flash at launch? I'm possibly interested in beta testing, however I have an 09/10 N54 E88 and usually in the February/March time my car is in the garage because of the weather. But, with that stated, if the roads are clean, I have no problems taking it out for test purposes!

Also: I too already have the Alpina flash done to my AT.

I would love to participate in the beta...

No issues using Winkfp in an advanced fashion.

I have three 335's under my care with the correct TCU's...

1: 2008 completely stock trans but its not beat to crap because it was recently modded for the first time

1: 2007 (post 3/07) with moderate mods and fresh OEM turbos running E45 (450whp) and the level 10 valvebody otherwise stock trans with fresh fluid, hasn't skipped a beat yet.

1: Fully built Lvl 10 build that was recently re-done as it failed quickly due to bleeding off line pressure (bad bushings) now fixed and running VTT stg 2's but not really going to be used until the spring. So it will be fresh

I also tune all these cars myself, but I don't go crazy as I don't have local dyno so just what I can get safely from street logs and being sure I'm not passing MBT.

I feel like I would be a good beta tester. PM me if I can get in.

I would REALLY like to get in as the lvl 10 valvebody does show promise when you reset everything but over time the adaptations kill the extra performance.. Pisses me off.

Definitely interested in this if you need someone from the 5 series crowd to participate! I'm located in colorado and have ties to a few bmw groups and N54/N55 owners locally.

E8x N54/N55 will be covered together with the E9x series. The architecture is the same, therefore that can be covered at once.

Is there a limit to the number of times you can flash your TCU before it no longer accepts any new flashes? I remember when I did the Alpina flash, my car did say something about the number of flashes remaining available at the 70's? Dealer did a Mechatronic sleeve replacement under CPO and they flashed me back to stock tho, Since then I hated ending to hit the paddle or switching to sport on the shifter if I ever wanted to get out of eco mode in the alpina flash. I like the stock setting where if I mash the gas, it will just go.

That's an artificial limit introduced by ZF/BMW. The hardware itself basically has "no" limit and therefore you will be able to flash as often as you want with xHP.

Hmm... I thought that limit was something in WinkFP, not the TCU itself. Regardless, like you said, shouldn't have any impact on your flashing tool.

WinkFP writes some history information on each flash into the EPROM. The memory reserved for this purpose has a certain limit and that's the limit which is shown bei WinkFP.
