14' F30 Speedtech 8374 - Going for 700hp -
05-22-2018, 12:00 PM
I received my Speedtech kit last week and the car is in the shop today. Project M is doing the install. I went with the EFR-8374 like luchocamp did in order to try and make the most power possible. This turbo is nothing short of HUGE. I'm excited to get the car back and start tuning.

I'm jealous. Us E series guys have to cut into the car to fit the bigger turbo. Looking forward to hearing how you like it.

Will be interesting to see how that works, will you be moving the electronic actuator over to the EFR?

Awesome! Is that what you had to do? Remove the EWG from the stock turbo to the new one?

Yes. EWG use the factory BMW actuator and rod instead of the BW one. I'm pretty sure PWG does to, and I'm about to find out. I bought a TurboSmart EFR dual port bypass valve and waste gate actuator to see if I could get them to work on my PWG car. We will see in a few weeks if it works out.

My kit gets here Friday. I had to fly to Minneapolis for work and Jeff was nice enough to take me for a ride and let me see how close everything is on his car. I honestly think a little work with a dead blow will give it enough room. If not I'll notch it and reinforce. I had to clearance the same area on my E36 and I thought it really wasn't that bad to do. I'm pulling the sub-frame while I do the install to put in other parts at the same time and give myself a little extra room to modify anything needed.

So they finished the turbo install. Car cranks but won't start with the JB4 installed. Throws charge air pressure and wastegate codes. But it fires right up if he uninstalls the JB4. Thoughts?

maybe they mixed up TMAP/MAP sensor, other stuff you cannot mix up anyway. even without obd2, FF and wastegate I don't think it should matter you are idling only..

With the JB4 unplugged, but harness still installed, can I drive the car home at least? Would it just run off flash settings? JB4 was set to Map 7 prior to melting.

No you'd need to pull the Jb4 harness out for it to work.
