I want to go to next step with upgrading the turbo .
But I don't know single turbo (doc race) or twin turbo ( mmp)
My car 135i fbo manual.

I always vote Single turbo. Its more reliable and nicer to the engine/trans.

Anything over 500 I prefer ST. I run around at 500whp on my ST on pump and enjoy it 150% more then the twin setup. And its 150X more reliable.

do you say this because the TT set up is more punchy down low and that torque is too much for engine/trans?

Too much torque down low is bad for both engine and trans but that can be tuned out. My concern is the extra back-pressure you get from twins.

interesting, hadnt heard or thought of that

though I have read a few say back pressure can be a killer on these motors

Back pressure is killer on anything forced induction.

I think back pressure is a made up reason for your multiple hybrid turbo failures. I have had both setups save your money do it right once and go single.

I still remember the phone call like 3 years ago when you wanted the single. I think it was really expensive in the end to ship it here and back was the reason why you went with hybrids.

Yep singles back when you and I were originally talking were high now the price difference imo is a drop in the bucket considering what you get for the difference.

Singles are as easy if not easier to install. Singles do require extra thought and some time when you are OCD and worry about heat management but again easy fixes with thought and taking time during install and even after for areas you may not have considered.
