Default N55 DCT with M4 flywheel - 04-26-2017, 10:57 AM

Low and behold the answer to all of my misfires over the last 2-3 years! Can't thank Pure Turbos enough for continuously working at a soloution to these pesky misfires! To keep this short and sweet I've done everything I possibly could to try and get the intermittent PS2 high boost misfires figured out over the last few years from different spark plug brands and gaps to new coil packs leak down tests boost leak tests flash only with ptf flash only with wedge jb4/stack but nothing would seem to have any positive effect. Happy to say they are goooone! Pure not only took care of the dirty work in getting the flywheel installed but also sourced one for me as well. Thank you Pure for your continued efforts and hard work in getting this figured out I am ecstatic. There has been mention on the forums of this helping the n54 dct platform but I don't believe I've seen anyone try the M4 dct flywheel on an n55. I jut picked my car up this morning and have done about 15 pulls with boost between the 20-24psi range. Before this flywheel my car would misfire on anything more then 19psi at redline pretty consistent. I did a few pulls up to 6th gear from 3rd hitting 22 up top and it's a ****ing missile. Thank you pure turbos much respect

Great news.

Was this the OEM M4 DCT flywheel or the MFactory version? Also, how does the car feel under normal driving given the difference in weight?

A bit more info is available here:-

Does this not have the chatter and noise that the lightweight single mass flywheels for the manual cars have?

It's a stock dct m4 flywheel, so it's still a quiet dual mass.

Ahh ok. Pure's post on page 5 of the thread linked above from the N54 section made me think the M4 flywheel was just a single mass version of a 335 flywheel.

Wonder if something like this would work for us manual trans guys that don't want the downsides of a SMFW.

Anyways, sorry to derail the thread. That's a pretty sweet work around you guys found. Nice job!

not the same clutch pack but I am Using pretty new oem clutches for now. Didn't want to spend a lot on SSP if I wasn't going to be using them due to misfire issues etc. now I know it's fixed and car is ripping I will upgrade when these start showing signs of slipping.
