HELP....Installed JB4 G5..... CODES and LOG Questions -
02-04-2017, 12:33 AM
Hello Everyone.
I've been lurking around here for awhile, but this is my first post. I'm no stranger to the BMW world as I have owned 11 of them over the years. However, this is my first factory turbocharged BMW. I wrench on my own cars no matter what it maybe. I am ALWAYS open to learn new methods and procedures. So with that being said.. I have a few questions after my JB4 install. I have 2 codes that come back instantly after being cleared. I've listed the codes below and a quick pull log for review. I hope someone can shed some light on the codes. I'm thinking they are results of being fully ***less. The car pulls hard with no real hiccups. I have not backend flashed it yet. I will do that tomorrow morning. The codes are as follows:
2017-02-03 18_54_15:
2C73 Lambda probe behind catalytic converter, signal
2C74 Lambda probe behind catalytic converter, signal 2
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If I'm reading your fault code correctly then that fault is lost likely caused by your ***** downipes. Confirm that it is definitely post *** sensors as just ignore it. They only monitor the catalyst anyway.

Looks like rear o2 sensors are not plugged in, or wires not in JB4 harness (if it was used).

Thanks Terry. I did buy used. What wires on the harness would I need to inspect on the jb4. I'm assuming it's the ones going g to the small black connector. Would you PM me the correct orientation of the rear o2 sensor wires? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've checked the wiring of the JB4 and the verified that the rear o2 sensors wires were intact under the car. So it's a wiring issue I suspect. I'm going to check the signal with INPA now. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I've checked the rear o2's with INPA and it looks like the voltage is way high. What do you think is the issue?

Terry...
I've checked all the connections and wires. Everything is plugged in and wires are in the correct positions on the subconnector. I looked at the status of the rear o2's in INPA and the voltage is pegged or super high. Any ideas as to what the issue maybe? I removed the JB4, cleared the codes and they didn't come back. So it is definitely JB4 related. Do you think that the o2 sensors are just bad and the JB4 is just making it more apparent? Can you take a look at the log I provided in the first post and tell me what you think? Other than this issue.. The car runs GREAT. I haven't backend flashed it yet. I really wanted to get this issue worked out first. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Thank you Terry for attempting to help me out. However, I figured it out myself this morning. I had wires crossed on the small black connector. The previous owner had a ***** on it and crossed wires when putting the jumpers back in. ALL IS WELL NOW! Backend flashing as I type this. I will post logs for review tonight. THANKS TERRY...You Sir...ARE AWESOME!

Did your issue go away after this or did it eventually pop back up? I've been dealing with this for going on 2 years now and can't seem to figure out what the problem is. Is there a change that my JB4 wiring harness is bad? I bought my jb4 used 5 years ago, and have had this weird 2c7e problem ever since. Would it be worth just buying a new harness to see if that fixes things?
