Yes it was in Madison.
Ill take it to the track if your willing to pay for any damage that occurs. No insurance on the track isn't very appealing.

Check your policy. Coverage for your acts of gross negligence is probably excluded from coverage as well.
P.S.: Going nearly 200 mph on a public road is gross negligence.
But, no one can tell you anything. You're the best driver ever and nothing will happen to you. Just hope you don't take anyone else out with you if something bad happens.

I am sure he does. Continuous high rpm and high load will do that to this engine, you just haven't driven it hard enough yet. But don't be like him, take it to a track please...

If you crash going 196 mph with a passenger (and possibly another civilian on the highway) you think insurance is going to do anything for you? If that's your crutch for doing it, you really need to re-analyze the situation.

**** man... Y'all are missing an important point here.
THE PLASTIC BELLYPAN AND FENDERLINER ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR ANYWHERE NEAR THAT SPEED AND EASILY COULD OF FAILED.
What state was this that you have roads that straight? Wisconsin?

Way to push the car. I would be more afraid of breaking something than wrecking or getting pulled over.
The odds are pretty low that you will wreck at those speeds going straight.
Keep it up. Don't let the girly men talk you out of it.

Lol, odds are pretty low? That's not the point. Going that fast on the same tires multiple times increases his chances of a blowout exponentially. At those speeds, sheet metal acts like toilet paper. If he hits someone at those speeds, there is a good chance there will be a serious injury or fatality. Additionally, if he hits someone at those speeds the OP would be in jail, negligence, reckless engagement, vehicular manslaughter (if a fatality occurs).
OP you are a f**king moron, I am glad I don't live in the same state as you.

You're making assumptions about his tire usage, convictions and bodily injury of those involved in your hypothetical crash. People die in 25mph wrecks. You don't need excessive speed to kill. If he got convicted of any of those charges then the worst you he would see is probation. Most wrecks occur around the speed limit. Those that end in serious bodily injury often have contributing factors like under the influence of whatever drug or alcohol. You run the risk of death every time you pull out of your driveway. Speeding increases your risk of a speeding ticket.

I've been trying to avoid weighing in on this ****-show, but I really like what Marine has to say here as well.
As someone who allegedly does 130-40 on the tollway commuting to work, and both of my accidents having been at <20mph, I must agree here. With proper spotting, passenger cross check, local knowledge, and at night with low traffic, I really fail to see any imminent risk here.
I'll go out on a limb and say tire arguments are invalid, such that tires were probably something he's upgraded, and the stock tires are good for what- 170? No, his tires are fine. The passenger argument, come on, gtfo. That guy signed up to go in the car with him. They're friends. They have trust. Of course the driver isn't going to put his passenger/friend in any unnecessary danger, which going fast in a straight line doesn't necessarily qualify for. And as for bystanders- I don't recall seeing any in the video, there are plenty of places you can go where there is no danger of hitting anyone else (i.e. freeways at night)
Log it next time.
I'd definitely like to start seeing these break the 200 mark, that would be very interesting.

question - why is the car still accelerating through gear changes? Is the gauge just behind and trying to keep up with actual speed?

If you crash at 190+ you'll need to worry more about if your dental records were up to date rather than if you insurance will cover it. Have you seen what happens to street cars that crash at those speeds in uncontrolled environments? Any error or problem encountered at that speed is pretty much fatal.
As others have said, the risk to yourself is your decision, but putting others at risk is not fair to them.

Life isn't fair, we learned that at a young age.
