Default JB4 and Emissions testing - 08-15-2020, 07:56 AM

All-

Illinois resident with JB4 and BEF, stock DP hollowed out.

Went to the Illinois OBD2 based test and failed:
***: not supported
heated ***: not supported
a/c refrigerant: not supported
secondary air: not supportd

So- Am I correct in order to pass Set MHD to Stage 0 (keep ******* checked), and put the JB to map 0?

Is the JB at 0 still "on"

Ive searched, and theres conflicting opinions on the JB4 (complete removal lol) and need solid advice

With the empty DP you're going to fail regardless. Its either going to throw a rear O2 code if they're turned on or the O2s will never be READY if they're turned off.

Do you have a spacer for the rear O2 sensor? Also, what JB4 firmware are you running? Do you have the auto clear codes option turned on?

You will never pass emissions without a catalyst if you have an ewg vehicle. The DME is different from the pwg and more sensitive. If you want to pass emissions and keep your performance you will need a high quality high flow catalyst. Fabspeed and Active Autowerke are your 2 options. Unfortunately you have to pay to play.

If pwg many have had luck using a spacer for the downstream 02 sensor. I've seen posts about the one from Vibrant working well.

In either case put jb4 on map zero and unplug the obd connector and tuck it away.

Thanks all-

I have the JB4 at 0/0 so switched off.. why do i need to unplug the unit if i have all settings off?

I purchased an O2 spacer with the Honeycomb Element in it.

I am currently running the MHD stage2 map, and will reflash with "OEM dp" turned on.

I will run thru and get this dumb thing at a ready code and be done with this.

I guess, its worth mentioning that the JB4 with BEF feels way faster than just the MHD stage 2.

If you reflash with the OEM dp option turned on and you are without a catalyst, you will get a cel. Unless the mini honeycomb is efficient enough to prevent the o2 sensor from noticing.

The option turned off will hide the cel.

You unplug the obd connection because most states emissions testing is done via an obd check. Most don't actually use a sniffer. You unplug it and tuck it away so there is no obvious tampering that could potentially cause a fail. I also would not want anyone other than me messing with my wire. Who knows how gentle they would be.

Thank you for the reply.
My JB4 is under the hood, inside the brainbox.. the OBD check takes place at the passenger side, in cabin. Im at a loss as to why or how they would go under the hood, I have never seen anyone ever with their hood up. I do not have the wifi adapter or anything else plugged into the OBD2 port in cabin.

The idea is to have the defouler with catalyst work. If not, I may check out an online area seventyfour item.
