Default water/meth injection in winter - 10-15-2021, 06:45 AM

Going into winter with my water/meth kit for the first time. I heard to add a bottle of Heet to the tank to prevent freezing since here in MN we can get to -40F and even washer fluid will freeze. Any thoughts or suggestions

Meth freezes at -144 deg f. You're good, even if it's mixed with a bit of water.

The info I found on boostjuice which I run is -34f or so which we get that cold and even colder. Maybe a half a bottle of Heet?

If you're using boost juice then maybe just a splash won't hurt. A plastic container is very pliable and forgiving, unlike a soda can. Worst case is it might get a bit slushy but as soon as you fire up the car the cab heat will take care of that, and engine heat will definitely thaw out any lines in just a minute or so.

Has anyone used Heet to increase Meth ratio? Reading other forums there are people using washer fluid and a bottle of Heet to increase the meth ratio to 60%. I use Boost juice but would like to increase the meth content from 49% to around 60% meth for track days

I would think like what I was saying maybe like a half bottle to the 1 gallon tank I would think it would net you around that 65-75% percent mark.

Can't you find Meth local? I assume that you can't because of the question, but the most economical way is to buy 5 gal buckets. Much cheaper than boost juice and much cleaner.
If local isn't an option, then ensure you get the yellow bottle heet and not the red. Yellow is 99% Meth but the red is isopropyl

Freezing isn't usually a big issue on WMI kits, especially with at least 50% meth mixtures. I've never heard of anyone freezing even if "wind chill" temps get really cold outside as it's always a few degrees warmer in the car.

I mix my water / Meth to 50/50 and have never had an issue with freezing. I live in Canada in the praries where it regularly gets pretty damn cold. We had a few weeks last winter in the - 40s down to even - 50s for a week or so. If Its going to be super cold I would just add a little extra bit of meth to the mix.
