Default 30BA and 30BB on msd81 - 05-05-2019, 07:48 PM

Was driving home tonight and out of nowhere the car started to misfire horribly, checked the jb4 app and it said I had a cylinder 3 misfire as well as 30BB and 30BA codes. Car also died on the roadway and would not start back up for several minutes, when it did it ran fine, though. I have brand new coils and plugs, however my VCG is going bad and a new one is coming in the mail. Could the VCG have caused that? Or do I also now have to worry about replacing injectors and dme/mosfets? Car is 2010 535i with msd81 (as confirmed by MHD app)

As far as I know, your VCG should not have anything to do with tose codes. Both of those codes signify electrical failure. You should have it checked by an experienced bmw technician as there are a few issues that could trigger those codes.

Update: car started this morning, codes are gone, it drives completely fine, despite not doing anything. Will probably bring it to a shop later to figure out what the hell happened, may get new injectors as well as a used ECU and have it recorded for my car in case it happens again if they don't find anything

That seem to me like you have a grounding issue, you may have a bad ground at your ignition harness or injector harness.
Only time I’ve seen that happen intermittently was a result of short circuit in injector wiring in the e-box.
Such issues - if present, may fry the DME.
