Welcome and congratulations on the little one coming! I am in the market for some new rims as well and mine is the same (Titainum Silver) as yours. I am debating between some 19" M6 wheels in machince faced grey, some 19" Avant Garde M310 in Silver machined face or 20" Lexani rims. Good luck.

Do not do flat-black stockers. Please.

Great Idea Chief Holley! I like those Avante Garde rims myself.

I would tell everybody here concerned about performance to stay away from 20's. They look great but ride HORRIBLE! And the forged 3 piece ****e is GARBAGE. Trust moi. I learned the hardway.

Just get some good Flocast/Forged light 19' with lower profile tires for better grip and a wider stance.

I too am in the market for rims it appears. Considering some Volks which are about 19# each. My car also being Titanium Silver, I want something machine faced/graphite looking to match CF accents.

Thoughts are appreciated!

Would you consider those M6's Jay? I have been going back and forth in my mind about those. I think I want something with a little shine to them and the pics of the M6s on cars look very dull. I hope someone with these chime in on their looks.

Hey fellas thanks for responding and your inputs. I those avantes where is cheapest place to get em? Also 19x8.5 in front would it be best to stay the same in back or go 19x9.5 for me its performance first then looks...best tires? Or best bang for buck. Also are spacer something I should consider adding or benefits ?

First off congrats on the little one.

Second, I think you're just up the road from me so if you're looking to see any mods first hand etc, I might have it or have looked at it. Just give me a shout out.

Re the spacers, I found the steering seemed to get "heavier" when I had them on, although I loved the look where the wheels were pushed out. So I went down the silly path and got custom forged wheels so the offset could be just incorporated into the basic wheel. Stoopid expensive and if I were to do it again, not so sure. But all up, for some reason the steering feels much lighter even though the front wheels are pushed out just as far. It might be because I didn't go quite as aggressive on the rear offset.

Here's the sizes with offsets that I have on my car now.

F 18" x 8.5" ET 14 (245 x 40)
R 18" x 9.5" ET 26 (275 x 35)

And the only reason I didn't go 19's is there seemed to be less of a range of performance tires when you get bigger than 18's. But I guess as long as you find a good 19" tire you could stick with that and not worry about how big the selection is.

I'm running Continental ExtremeContact DW on the car at the moment but think the Michelin Pilot Super Sport is as good if not a little better, just a touch more expensive.

Cool stuff no longer installed.

I recommend Forgestars for rough roads. They hold up very well and they don't break the bank.

I had never put aftermarket wheels on any of my previous cars, but this '10 335xi deserved new shoes. I went with 19" matte black Avant Garde M359 in 19x9 w/35 offset in front, and 19x10 w/38 offset in the rear. Tires are Falken 453, 235/35 front and 265/30 rear.

Suspension will be coming once funds are available.

I agree. My 20" F14's have held up great on the roads up here in the Bay Area.

I'd search the classifieds for a nice used set of classic oem wheels. Style 166 or 172 or 128's style 95's are nice too. you can find used with tyres pretty reasonable and classic looking

You can also try the the 5 series section in e90 post bmw. No one uses the general discussion section for talking about cars, just selling stuff

Default My experience with AG m310s - 07-23-2013, 09:55 AM

Hi HG8-
I bought mine from mod bargains and for me, I had significant vibration throughout the car. I used the supplied aluminum hub centric rings and got them road forced balanced....started shaking in two days. Then, got the front wheels high speed balanced by hand (the installer knew what he was doing)... Started shaking in about 3 days. Then I bought the polyurethane hub centric rings and got the wheels/tires balanced on a Hunter with road force, got high speed balanced again.... Started to shake in 2 days.

So, the moral of this story is, the center bore of AG m310s is 74.XX mm and our e60s have a 72.56 hub (e39 has 74.XX) and our car require the rings. So you are taking a chance with having the same vibration problems I had. BUUUUUUUT...... It is ME I'm talking about here and to my knowledge, no one else experienced this problem so you might be good to go. See my sig for how they look.

What could possibly go wrong usually does for me.... I warp my rotors every 4,000 miles and don't even track the car. So it is usually only me who experiences any problems.
