3inch lower chargepipe? -
01-31-2016, 09:42 AM
I was wondering if anybody is selling 3inch lower chargepipes that connect from the intercooler to an aftermarket chargepipe similar to what comes with the Wagner intercooler. I have a VRSF intercooler and don't want to restrict the piping to the 2.25inch pipe that comes with their package. Now with hot side outlets this is the biggest restriction point in the turbo piping.

unfortunately I'm in the same boat here since I neglected to get the lower charge pipe option with my VRSF 7". I don't see it available seperately so what would be the best course of action in this case?

I bought the lower chargepipe from VRSF when I bought the 7" intercooler. The pipe is 2.25" in diameter. I would like to get a 3 inch pipe when I install 3" outlets.

oh wow, I just assumed the upgraded lower charge pipe matched the 3" outlet on the IC. if that's not the case I'm going to have to make something myself

Let me know what parts you are going to buy to make your own please. I would prefer to have a vendor prepackage the lower chargepipe though.

We are developing assorted adapters to help out situations for connecting different sized silicone, different angles or bends, etc. If you have a need just let me know, we may already have them being produced. Pictured is an example to connect a size larger than the other together.

I made my own out of a black 3" pipe with a 90 degree bend made by cx racing. I bought it on eBay for like $25, then when I pulled the stock one out I measured and cut the cx pipe. (Make it bigger than you think and cut again if necessary. For me, the 3" ended up being much longer than stock for it to fit perfectly...)
After it was cut I made my own bead using a home made tool. It's basically just a vice grip with a washer welded on. Then I just got a 3" to 3" 45 degree coupler which connected to the bms CP. Works great.
With outlets, I'll have full 3" plumbing to throttle body.
However, there are turbo cars pushing 1,000 hp with 2.5" plumbing, so I wouldn't expect a significant power gain unless you are making serious power. Still, our cars seem to respond well to more flow so we will see if gains will be larger with outlets and a 3" lower cp.
