Well, 16.5 > 13. However, is there concern about stress on the components, wear and tear, etc? JB4 is the only thing I plan on doing to the car. Is the idea that map 5 learns from what you have?
Sorry about the noob questions, but I got a feeling that searching through the 120 some odd pages in this thread alone will bring up more questions than answers.
And finally, has anyone done a this to a Z4?

Map5 will autotune for the best performance for the mods that your car has.
Stress on components has more to do with how you drive the car.
And yes there's a few active posters on here who have done this to a Z4. I *think* even to an 35is version?
Cool stuff no longer installed.

Thanks Terry, I have the CPS/SLD so it looks like I'll have to remove it. Got a 2F4F Vehicle speed, plausibility code today from this.

I just ordered my JB4 w/ USB cable and DCI. It should be here by Friday afternoon. I'm hoping for a smooth install. I have one main question and I have done numerous searches and haven't found an answer and its almost impossible to read every single page on here. I'm curious exactly what the JB4 does other than raise the boost. I'm assuming it can advance timing and change fuel trims. Is that right? I was more used of knowing about an S-AFC where the user would make those kinds of changes. I guess instead the JB4 does it all for you unless using map 6 I believe you can make a custom map.
Thanks,
Lance

I can't answer your question. However, having just installed my JB4 and DCI a week ago, let me assure you that you are in store for a serious OMG-OMG-OMG gigglefest. Seriously. Map5 is your friend. Welcome to the dark side.

Easiest way to find out is to log it and send to Terry. It has been 1monthnif thinking and researchin wether its map 1 or 5. Then finally i logged it then sent to Terry. He said to go map 1. My mods are jb4 g4, bms dci, sprint booster and *** delete.
Even its 13psi but it goes freakin fast and maintains it!! Vs stage 3 mk6 golf gti? SMILE:D

I believe it. I already get an adrenaline rush as it is. I can't imagine how much better its going to feel. I guess next will be down pipes and meth/water injection to be able to run some more boost. I'm assuming the timing should automatically advance itself depending on what octane and meth/water combo I'm running.

Quick question - new JB4 user. I've figured out most of what I need to know but I am confused about one thing in particular.
When I go to set the 4/4 or 4/5 Can Flap setting... after I set to 4/5 for example... the guages sweep to odd positions. What should they do after I hit volume down when I have the speedo at 4 and the tach at 5... pushing volume up or down should set that setting... no?
I'm just wondering what should happen after I hit volume down to select that setting... what do the guages do?
Sorry if I'm not making any sense.

Reset your gauges to your car, you may be selecting the incorrect options. These is directions to do this in the jb4 printout

Sorry if this has been answered. I just ordered my JB4. It arrived yesterday. I understand that it's a G5 board. My car is a '11 Z4 3.5 IS. I downloaded the 12/14/2012 Interface. Questions:
1. Did it come with, or without the ISO firmware. (Sorry, I've yet to install it)
2. Which option am I selecting from the settings? 2 (G4 N54 w/BMS Flash, 1M, or 335is), 5 (G5 ISO), or 6 (G5 ISO w/BMS Flash, 1M, or 335is)
3. Which gauge metric should I use?
Thanks,
Jerry

Correct, the DB9 positions are different so it's no longer compatible with the G5. The good news is SLD wires are only $10. Or you could salvage wires from your SLD/CPS harness.

It's a really hard question as it depends on so many factors. Altitude of test, ambient temperature, model of dyno, miles on your car, quality of fuel blah blah blah.
Build some logs and have a play with this software. http://www.bradbarnhill.com/projects/VirtualDyno/
A number of people on here use it and feel it gives a pretty accurate representation. At least for knowing where you're car is at now and what new mods do to the power output.
Cool stuff no longer installed.

I'm in the same boat here
It's a little frustrating to be honest - it's like the answers are here in the forum but you have to go digging for them.
As a non tech guy its hard to play catch up and some clear instructions would be a great help.
Using the interface I've managed to find out what firmware date mine is but don't know how to find what the date of the current one is and where to download it from.

Wrong thread for that question. Search for other cars with the same style or start a new thread and I'm sure a few people would have some good input.

So this surge I feel during part throttle after the transmission upshifts is a known issue? When pedal is like 10-20, it drives fine, but when It's 25-40 or so, it surges. Please delete this post if this feedback is in the wrong place.

Just installed mine. Took about an hour and a half. No major issues, except that the big connector is a PITA to slide back on. The firmware had the /2 making it a G5, so I went with option 6. The gauges seemed to be good right out of the box and Map 1 was already set. Made a couple of menu selections (CanFlap On, Boost on fuel, etc). Will switch to Map 5 later tonight and do some "learning pulls". Doing red line runs in 3rd in the middle of the day on Christmas is probably not a good idea anyway. Gonna try to schedule a dyno for next weekend and see exactly what kind of numbers we are looking at.
P.S. The latest firmware is in the first post.
