Default Codes, low end power... powertrain malfunction - 05-11-2022, 07:32 AM

Hi Guys
Since I've upgraded the firmware and backend flash tunes on my 2013 F30 335i, i've bee getting the following:
Low power bellow 3000RPM, frequent "Powertrain Malfunction" display message (even though the car will drive almost normally and if I clear the codes on function 4, it will go away until I pull it hard again), and the following codes:
120308
122108
421772 (transmission related)
CF16D1 (Trans related)

I've tried PGW1, PGW2 and 3 Race and Pump tunes.. all seem the same to me and I get the same results.

Car is running E85 30% mix with 93Octane, and I just installed NGK's 2 point cooler plugs in it (OEM's were running good though)
I'm not the most JB4 nor MHD savvy guy as I stay away for long periods and forget on the functions etc, so please don't mind any BS I might be talking.

Please see the logs I did yesterday.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please upload a log from 2k rpm to redline in 3rd or 4th gear on a safe private track.

Here you go.
No codes during these 5 or 6 runs... did 3 or 4 in 3rd gear and a couple in 4th gear.

Thanks a lot!

Hi Cannon, just checking if you were able to check the Data Log posted above or if you'd like me to email that to you. I did about 4 runs in 3rd and 4th gear.
Thanks for the support!

From what I have learned, at 5500rpm you begin not reaching target and your timing starts to have issues. Multiple reasons could be the cause: need higher octane, pulls/gaps, maybe hpfp (n55 hpfp has a low max capability), but could also be you need adition fbo mods (fmic, c/p).

That said if no codes, then may be able to keep as is though may be better for the car to try map 5 or return to map1.

Iím using 93octane with 30% E85 mix.. just replaced my spark plugs to NGKs but kept the oem coils. Just the other night when pulling out of a friends house the car kind of misfired.. gapped the plugs really tight on 0.022 not sure if too tight and got less than 0.022Ē in the end which could lead to weak spark.
I only started having these issues after updating the JB4 and tunesÖ the. I replaced the plugs at the same time.

Are you still not getting codes now when logging?

Plugs could be gapped too tight for your mods. .22 would be for fbo, PS2 and/or meth/pi...you could probably stay at factory gap. Fuel type should be fine. Can you post a map 1 log?

Do you have all the jb4 setting to default? Like ff? Did it learn up to 120? Maybe reset to default values again to troubleshoot if they aren't.

Man, I believe I've F**k up my car... I had a trip this sunday to Arkansas with it... when I reset my settings on JB4, forgot to save what I had on it.
Car is driving like garbage and can't get out of a red light without going into chassi malfunction, it has no boost, no power all the time, on map 2 "less worse"... but it will throw the code and drive like garbage.
Here is the Log on map 1, stock settings: If you could help me get it back at least where it was I'd appreciate!

thanks a lot!

That log is on map 2. And def not hitting targets. I'd email burger support at this point. I'm beginning to think you have a significant boost leak somewhere perhaps. Same issues in map0?

First portion, it hits 6K RPM is on map1... then codes... then I switched to map2... took probably half an hour to reach 7K rpms haha...
Drives like a Smart!
I'm talking to Terry and trying to figure it out... did another log right now with a few changes on the setings take a look... thanks a lot bro!

Yeah that looks awful. Ha. Nothing that can't be resolved tho. Only thing I can think of is boost leak to cause that. You ever upgrade your c/p?

Terry is the man so if your working with him then your in the best hands.

Let me know what yall end up figuring out.
