Default Pure Stage 1 Turbo - 2C90 Errors - 05-10-2022, 09:15 AM

JB4 install on an N55 with a Pure Stage 1 turbo, FBO, running 93 gas. New coil packs and plugs.

Map 5 will start banging out the exhaust at about 5500 RPM and throw 2C90.

Map 2 will throw the big engine icon in the MFD and throw 2C57 under low RPM & very moderate load.

Cruising down the highway the turn signals will sporadically flash. DTS will sporadically turn itself on & off.

Completely disconnect JB4, no codes for over a week. Reconnect JB4, codes thrown immediately.

Attached are 4 logs ran on map 5. Logs 256 & 257 only go to ~6000 because the exhaust banging started and the ECU cut power & revs.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Did you mess with your user adjustment settings? If it wasn't you then someone else did. You need to reset all JB4 User Adjustment settings back to default. Once you have done that, update to the newest firmware if you haven't already. DEAFULT settings are on the link below. What backend flash are you on? Once you have changed back to default settings, Enable "Disable FF gain for Hybrids"

The "FF/Wastegate Adaption" user adjustment had been set to '60' Reset this value to '100'

Updated the firmware.

Checked the menu 10, 11, and 12 settings.

Couldn't find the "Disable FF gain for Hybrids" setting. I am connected via cable & laptop.

I am running MHD with the stock map (stage 0) currently loaded.

After a test drive the symptoms persist. Exhaust backfires and 2C90 codes.

You need to flash the BMS BEF for your cars current setup. MHD Stage 0 is not helping. "Disable RPM FF gain for Hybrids" is on bit 6.

A BEF was written upon receipt of the JB4, and set menu 4-2. This configuration resulted in backfires, 2C90 and other codes.

Completely disconnected the JB4 to establish no damage had been done by the violent backfires. No codes on stock BMW map or MHD stage 2 map.

Wrote the stock BMW map, installed JB4 and got backfires & codes again on map 5 and 2.

Would prefer to resolve the current codes with the stock BMW map before adding the complexity of a BEF.

Attached screenshot is how "Disable FF gain for Hybrids" should be set via bit 6?

Re-wrote the stock map and things worked a little better. The new map version is 'stage0', the previous map version was 'stage0-1' somehow. Proceeded to write the pump BEF.
