2015 E400 just installed BMS & JB4 -
02-16-2021, 01:21 PM
I’ve used JB4 on my VW Golf R with good results so I decided to get one for my 2015 E400 (37,000km).
I installed the JB4 without a hiccup but the BMS intakes were tricky as the supplied heat shields didn’t fit in the locations as per instructions. Maybe because it’s an Australian model there are some variables, the bolts on the sides of the engine back were about an inch out on one side and the left had a bracket holding a battery cable, but after a little modifying they will work but not a perfect fit.
In Australia we have pump 98 Octane fuel so I’m starting on Map 2 and will work up to Map 5 once I install the OBD cable and can send logs to be safe.. I ran out of time as I spent 4 hours fitting the heat shields.
Map 2 runs there is a clear increase in performance and appears to drive like OEM, as it didn’t with my 2016 VW Golf R.
The E400 is a luxury performance car, at 245kw 480nm standard it’s feels heavy under acceleration, but with he JB4 on Map 2 has already made it feel much lighter and I assume that’s due to the power increase.
My questions to TERRY @ BMS:
Does anyone have any peak numbers for reference with regards to performance gain?
What are the differences between E400 and C43 engines specs
Is 98 Octane Fuel high enough for map 4/5
The cable not used on this application on the JB4, what is that for and where would I plug it if I wanted to use it?
(LOG)
WOT in 2nd gear went sideways and I **** myself! Then into 3rd clean...
Thanks
Cheers
Adam

I'm running map 4 on 93 octane here in the states on my 2015 E400 with no other mods or issues, and have been doing so for well over a year. In the past I've tried map 5, but that might have been before BMS adjusted it.
Yours must be RWD if you've gotten sideways. Mine is AWD so it's pretty drama free.

They do but not as frequently as email. This thread has died off in popularity in the last year.

If you need a faster response always email us.
For log review we'd need the CSV file.

We're having a gas supply issue where I am. I was wondering if it would be safe to run the JB4 in "Valet mode" mapping for an extended period? Trying to preserve gas and run it as efficiently as possible.

Hi guys! Just recently installed my JB4 on my 2020 C43. I ran it for a week or so as I had gotten it and that was on map 1, then connected to update firmware to the "JB4_MB_C_2020_2" version, but left it on map 1.
I did not notice much from the firmware update other than now the car sometimes surges in cruise control going up inclines. It feels as if the car is making a bit more power than the cruise is expecting and it cuts off slightly. It did not do this before updating firmware.
Thought I'd let you guys know or see if anyone else has noticed this. I'm always on the same highway and always set my cruise at the same speed so it was pretty obvious that it does this now, and it's pretty much every time I go over the same hills.
I was thinking of switching to map 2 as I have 94 octane in there now and see if the surges get worse or go away but haven't done so yet.

I just installed the JB4 with optional BCM on my 2016 C450. And have tried map 1 and 2 with no change to boost pressure as far as I can tell after viewing a graph of the csv log and boost gauge using the JB4 app while doing a 3rd gear pull. The check engine light is not on, and the car feels like it's running perfectly fine. I followed the instructions to the letter as far as I can tell, so I'm not sure what the issue is. I should also note that I updated the firmware on the jb-4 before I switched to maps one and two. I have attached the CSV log

I have a 2019 C300 (refresh) with the m264. I directions for the JB4 install are for the older engine. Do you have any pics or info for the new engine connection points. I know where the MAP is, but which cable off the JB4 do I use? Is that the only one that has to be hooked up? The brown wire for the pressure sensor on the intake manifold was hard to get to on the old engine, but where is it on the newer m264?

SLC 43 Installation? -
08-09-2021, 12:45 PM
Has anyone here installed the JB4 on their SLC43 AMG? The instructions in the guide on placement, and routing the wires thru the firewall don't apply. Additionally, the only space that looks close enough to mount the unit itself is under the Brake Reservoir. The space shown on the C43 to route the OBD2 cable is occupied by the Fuse/Relay box. Engine bay is really tight, and the wiper mechanism prevents any placement behind the brake reservoir.
Input from anyone who as all ready done this in a SLC, I would appreciate to have any tips (before I take everything apart!)

I found a picture of the firewall, and there is an unused plug under the brake booster. Worked great. I mounted the JB4 itself under the brake reservoir so it is heat shielded from the exhaust, and off the tray to keep it out of the water.

You push out grommet in the firewall, route the OBDII (or if you want the easy way route it along the door jamb), plug in the JB4 board, plug in 2 wires in to the JB4 connector for CANbus, and you're off and running. With the JB4 the purple plug is no longer used/needed so it can be unplugged. Currently the green fuel pressure wire is also not active so if you're using it (with say a C300) then put that connection back to stock, for now.

Hi Terry, For JB4 Gen 1 on the C450, both the purple wire and green wire is still no need to be connected? Should the plugs be put together before tucked away? Or just leave them open?

My JB4 first graph loggings -
12-19-2021, 06:20 PM
Hey guys, Im new to this and just started using the JB4 in my 2016 C450. These are my logs in map 4 with a half tank of 93 oct and 2 gallons of E85 in it. I have an MST V2 intake and a BMS pedal tuner with one BMS BOV spacer (havent had time for passenger side yet). I was wondering what map I need to be in for the JB4 to see my mods on the car and adjust them properly? Also, since I put the MST and BOV spacer on, The burples, cracks and pops went away. Is there something I can do to get those back? Sorry for all the questions.. Im just SUPER STOKED to use this thing!
Thanks In Advance!!
