Went to my dealer today and they told me that they couldnt look up the service bulletin, and my BMW had no outstanding recalls. June '08 build, E60 N54.

hopefully its not in the system, but lots of speculation. Its shocking to hear they are doing recalls on 12-13 year old cars.

Where is your dealer? Iím in Kansas City and my dealer confirmed the service bulletin but like you it says my car 9/6/08 build has no outstanding recalls. They are calling BMW to find out why since it falls into the dates of the service bulletin. The service advisor says it should especially since it didnít have the injectors replaced on the previous recall.

Sounds promising for you, and thats encouraging that you actually have confirmation from BMW that all this hype about the new bulletin existing is real. My dealer is located in central CA.

Let me know what they say when they talk to BMW.

Side note- I checked my injectors and I've got four index 8s, a 7 and a 9.......

I'd need to see more like this to believe. I suspect SA error. I'm wrong enough though.

The Recall only exists because these old Injectors leak fuel while sitting, which largely doesn't get burned and is pushed out the *****. At scale, this is seriously hard on the environment, so I'm glad BMW was pushed hard enough that they had to do the right thing.

They certainly aren't helping because an old part failed.

Another update. Possibly. Here's what my Friend at BMW sent me. It seems they added a clarification of recall document.

Hey guys, I talked to a competent BMW enthusiast that works at BMW. The highlighted info that was posted yesterday is key. THIS IS ONLY AN UPDATE TO THE EXISTING RECALL. If you have had any warranty work done on injectors you will not be qualified for the new update.

This got super hyped up by insta and YouTube, and it's really just an update to an old bulletin from 2011.

Sad. I checked what index I had and turns out I have -11! Guy that own it before me was a bmw tech. Explains why there was no open recalls for my vehicle

Default Taking care on 2/5 for recall - 01-31-2020, 06:15 AM

Called local BMW dealership and was told no recall but, when I pressed and gave them the SIB #, they booked an appointment to bring care in. They called it a voluntary warrantee update. I will update the thread after the appointment on 2/5 to see if they actually replace all injectors.

I called the service manager who was my old boss and he said that it wasn't covered because the injectors have already been changed. 5 of them. When the car had 9k miles. It's an 08 135i

Any updates on this? hope this recall is a thing. Would be great for me as well since I have a production date of 5/07.

The recall IS a thing. Its just an updated version. It did get a lot of hype BUT it is still a real recall.
The original recall goes back to 2010 and has been updated at least twice since then.
If your vehicle has NEVER had injectors replaced and falls within the date range, the dealer will replace them if you press them hard enough.
The problem is that 90% of the vehicles within the date range have had injectors replaced by now.
There are specific injector part numbers that get replaced under the recall. Once you no longer have those part numbers the dealer will tell you you're all good and send you on your way.
There may be a few success stories coming here and there but this isn't the glory recall we were all hoping for.

Looked at my injector numbers.
Seem to be outside of the 'faulty' ones listed, even though they have the same symptoms.
My only real hope now is that there is a 3rd revision of this recall... unlikely.

It states in the defect code description "N54 US Replace piezo injectors". So yep US only...

I had them print it out for me. Here it is.

Why do they exclude Jan, feb, March models I got a 01/07 build and mine isnít under the recall very frustrating

Likely more about your individual dealer and relationship.
I find they like you more if you spend there. If not... meh.

It's more about your Injector Numbers.
20% of us might fall into the build date, but it seems a small %age of that has qualifying Injector Numbers. (Not rev, but stamped number)

So, worry about the dealer after you look at your individual build numbers... (car build date, injector build number (not just rev), then work on a dealer)

Hey everyone!
I just left my car at the dealer today!!
This is LEGIT!!!!!
Iíve made a post on e90post but hereís the content....

ďEVERYONE THIS IS REAL!!!!!
I read the entire thread on this topic along with a few other ones on other forums..... decided to call my local dealer. The SA asked for VIN but I clarified that Iíd like to also provide the SIB number that was mentioned earlier in this post. I was on hold for about 20 minutes before I was told that I need to bring it in to have it completed.
Got to the dealer. Great SA, handled everything in about 5 minutes. Getting an enterprise rental on BMW. Everything went literally super smooth!!!!Ē

ď Ok guys so to clarify a few things... BMW kept my car. Right now I am in a rental 2020 530i! The SA said it would take a few days.
Also, for those who are wondering if they qualify or not, I think Iíve figured out the criteria....
So my 335i is a 09/2007 built. Before all of this Iíve called BMW to see what recalls have been performed prior to when I bought the car. Found out that in 2011, I had 3 injectors replaced on bank 1 with index 7s. These must be on currently because on bank 2 I had a 4-4-5 index.
Basically, if you had them replaced before, it doesnít matter. If your VIN doesnít show, also doesnít matter. The idea is that if you have the correct build date and you NEVER had ALL SIX installed, then they will replace them all with index 12, along with new spark plugs.Ē
