I picked up one of these.

Seems to be the unbranded version of the Wagner unit selling for twice the price.

Installed it this weekend. Build quality and fit and finish were good. I tested it to 40 psi and it didn't have any leaks. Some minor trimming of the shroud was all it needed and all the bolt and hose connections lined right up.

I don't log the car but it's clearly happier after repeated pulls and has a little more oomph at the top of second and third gear.

Figured I would let people know these are out there if they don't already.

I installed the Wagner version on my 08 535i. It does line up nice with factory fittings. How did you manage the trans cooler?

My car is a manual.

I did notice what looked like a hardline mount on both sides that I had to cut off but it was unoccupied.

Do you have an oil cooler? If you do I thought stepped IC always interfered with it.

Yes I believe all E60 N54's have an oil cooler. It's a MASSIVE unit mounted behind the radiator and in front of the fan. So no problem in the front with the stepped intercooler.

Behind the radiator? How does that work? Do you have pictures of it installed?

It's the factory set up.

All VRSF IC race and below fit fine in the E6X and yes no lack of oil cooler in this series. VRSF new Comp Series is perfect addition to the group, larger then 5” stepped not as big as 7” race and because of stepped if u M5 bumper oem or Rep it fills in the gap very nice.

Can you fill us in on where you can find a VSRF intercooler that bolts up to an E60 and also lets you use the factory inlets and outlet *****? To my knowledge that doesn't exist.

I would never use the factory connections for the IC, just a bit to much of a restriction. I feel as though utilizing stock connections was back in 2010 when this platform was just getting started. I did not realize that was the main goal for people here, my bad. If that is the case seems as though the ebay rep would be perfect and for sure the easiest solution for people wanting quick install with little trimming.

In any case for bolting up the VRSF IC, simply just made two brackets as shown below. This is just the 5" stepped but same things for the Race and Comp.

I feel like this post is a blast from the past seven years ago when people were still using intercoolers with stock connections with the same restrictions. Ditch the plastic stock restrictive connections. If u are only staying stock then maybe but if going through the trouble of replacing the IC anyway why not do yourself a favor and ditch them.

The pics I posted are of a stepped VRSF core on a E61. It’s not hard to fit along with the race IC also.

It's all good, this car is a baby hauler not a racecar. I have stage 2 turbos going on and by choice will leaves tons of hp on the table.

Oh well, too late. To be honest I'm not that worried about it. What's the worst that happens? My goal is near 450 wheel on pump gas.
