Default Input on chargepipe - BOV or not? - 06-14-2017, 08:34 AM

Hi I am looking to start modding my 08 535i. I currently have the Cobb tuner installed, using stage 1 aggressive. I have a new intercooler ready to be installed, and will be getting VRSF ******* ********* as well.

Next on my list was a DCI and chargepipe and wondering what type of chargepipe setup I should get. I probably wonít do meth injection so really only interested in whether to use the stock diverter valves or go with a BOV? And if BOV which one? I am pretty new at this and have done some reading but itís still sort of confusing to me. Thanks and appreciate any input.

I kept the stock DV's and used the Cobb charge pipe. They work just fine with my MHD/Wedge tune I've been running for about a year.

Will the Cobb 335 chargepipe work on the 535?

ECS Tuning shows that it will fit. Same part number as used on the 1 and 3 series cars. I would always make a phone call prior to ordering and order a new throttle body o-ring and t-map o-ring.

ECS Tuning's site says it doesn't fit.

Need to find me a charge pipe for the 535. How hard can it be lol.

Has anyone used a Cobb charge pipe on the 535?

I would recommend calling Alan at Modbargains and getting the ER CP. Probably some July 4th sales as well. I ordered all my stuff through him and he was really helpful. The only thing he messed up was sending me the BMS OCC without the 535 extension. The BMS guys sent me a new one on the house, really appreciate customer service like that and I didn't even order the part from them.

I think the BoV is for sound only and doesn't do much more than that. I could be wrong but that was my take from reading up on the differences.

I looked all over and talked to a few vendors when I was shopping for CP on my 5. I think there are some 3-series CP's that will fit the 535i if you go with a BOV - most however will not work if you use DV/recirculating setup, because the 5 has different placement for the DV hoses/etc.
