when installing the new oil pan gasket do i NEED to use glycerin? I saw in a DIY a guy recommended using it, Im not sure if it is essential, or even what it does. if someone could explain further thatd be great

I'm not sure what you would use glycerin for. When I did mine I just dropped the sub frame and had to move a couple other things around to do it.

did you use any gasket sealant or anything of that sort? or did you just put a new dry gasket back in?

I just put the new dry gasket back in. Make sure you torque the bolts in the right sequence and correct spec. They are one time aluminum bolts so I would NOT reuse the old ones.

Did you remove the subframe completely, or just drop it down to gain access?

I dropped it completely since im doing turbos at the same times, personally makes it so much easier

I just dropped my subframe down and did it. I just used some permatex hi-tac to hold The gasket in place. 20k miles and no sign of leaks.

Did mine rod a long with turbo oil feeds and drains, dropped the subframe down and had moree than enough room to remove the sump. Didn’t use at sealers just bolted up dry
