I used them on my 14 Shelby GT500, before I went all out to a full DOT legal drag radial that was unusable in the rain or cold.
They are great tires up to 400-500HP in my opinion.
My GT500 makes 779 to the wheels, so there isnt much that can hold that power level which is why I had to go to the Nitto NT05R.
If you don't daily drive your car, the Nitto NT05R is as good as a full bias ply slick. (My GT500 went 1.6 60 foots with them). Like I said, just be prepared to not drive the car in the rain or cold weather. They stick like crazy but are dangerous in the rain and cold because of the soft compound and lack of water channels on the tire. Also they don't last long.... With 8-10 track passes/burnouts, I only got 5000 miles out of them, which in comparison, the Toyo on my 2012 gt500 SS lasted more then 10K miles before needing replacement.

The problem is we only get Hoosiers here in South Africa but they way expensive. My car at the moment makes 509 whp. So the only other best option is for the r888 tyres.

The R888 is a great tire for roll racing and the like, but it wont hook like a drag radial from a dead stop. It has stiff sidewalls meant for turning and gripping. For hooking from a dig, youd most likely want something with a sticky compound with a soft sidewall that would flex with weight transfer and increase the contact patch.

Can you get RE71R or Durezza star spec II? They are great for DD even 8n the rain and below 40F and hook pretty well for my 475wtq.

The Toyo 888 in my opinion is about the best you can get without going to a full blown drag radial.
The Nitto N555r is more of a street tire drag radial then the NT05R that I posted, its softer then the Toyo, but it manages okay in the rain and cold. It has a slightly harder compound then the NT05R.
Anything up over 400HP, is going to be a challenge with any conventional radial tire, especially with an automatic car.

I have PSS 245/35-18. I cannot get under 4.4 to 100kmh with my RWD so I think that is a no. Traction issues at +90kmh on a good road.

Sticky tires don't last long, long lasting tires don't stay sticky.

If your car is a daily driver, try the Nitto N555R drag radial. It will definitey help.
If your car is a fair weather car, and you don't drive it in the rain or cold, the Nitto NT05R is pretty much a slick, it has 2 rain channels in the tire, but its pretty much a slick thats a radial (very soft compound when heated up, just like a slick) but they are terrible/unsafe in the bad weather.

My car is a DD and I am not really into dragracing so the 4.4 is ok for me. The PSS is a great all-round tire so I am happy with it.

I'm also drive with the federals and they have good grip.
The biggest problem are to heat up the tire at dragracing. There is the federal perfekt, because the grip of the tires is good when they are cold.

I've read somewhere that Toyo RA1 and R888 both use the same rubber compound, same as the R1R. Is it true? It say that the only difference is the tread pattern. Not sure about the belting though. They mentioned that the R888 has heat cycle while the R1R doesn't have that feature.

I ran Michelin pss 255/35/18 in the rears of the F20. Managed to do a 3.6 0-100 as a best with on average 3.8-4.0 0-100 without issue. I did have a Quaife LSD though. I think they are quite ok.

PSS - Don't like them. Have them atm - OK(ish), but not great. Have a few thousand on them and traction can easily be lost
in 3rd. Wouldn't therefore recommend for the power you're looking to put down!

I realize this thread it almost a year old but here is my experience.
Michelin Pilot Super Sports
For the tread life you get this is a great tire. With the stock turbo I was able to keep all the power down in second gear. With the stage 2 from Pure 2nd gear would slip and grip. I will not totally lose traction but it will for sure slip. I went almost 2 years on one set. I recently replaced the rears but the front have another 10,000 miles to go.
Nitto Nt555r
Moving to a 17 wheel from a 19 and adding the different in tire height I lost a lot of confidence in the corners. The car would lean on the tire sidewall which always made me feel like the rear was about to let go. On the street it would hold all the power I threw at it in 2nd gear. I was able to launch in 1st at the track leaving at about 3 psi with a 20 psi target without them spinning. If you don't need to fly around corners this is a great tire to keep the power down for any stock or stage 2 turbo.
