Default Can a dealership pull all maintenance done on a BMW? - 11-07-2016, 09:35 AM

I was just curious, I bought my N54 335i Coupe about 6 months ago, and I pulled the car fax and saw how it's had regular maintenance over the course of it's life. Is it possible for me to go or call a local dealership (BMW) and see what all has been done to it? Or would I need to contact those specific dealerships to find out this information?

Thanks

The dealership will only be able to tell you any service that was performed by BMW. Anything that was done by an indy or DIY will not be present.

Yeah I'm aware of that, was just curious if any BMW dealership could access all maintenance done by BMW in general. Thanks for the information

I wish this information was more readily available. Anyone have any experience with just heading into a dealership and requesting this information without needing any other services? I'd love to see what kind of work has been done to mine prior to me purchasing.

That's kind of what I was getting at, hence I said BMW in general. I purchased my e90 in Virginia and pulled records in PA no problem. All they needed was my key fob. To answer you chadillac2000, I didn't have any work done when I had the records checked. I was stopping in to inquire about my injectors.

They can pull it but when I asked for it they would not print it for records prior to my ownership. I only got to look at the screen.

Its a crap shoot. Some dealers will do it, some won't. Thats why I always tell people, Buy and service your BMWs from the same dealer every time and develop a relationship with them. They're far more likely to help you out if they know you and you're a good customer.

They key fob will allow any bmw dealership to access dcs, dealer communications services. From there they can pull up and all "Warranty and recall work" performed and paid by Bmwna. All customer pay repairs will be on a dealer by dealer circumstance. They will have to retrieve cp information from there history usually renyolds n renyolds, adp, or arkona data base. U can call each dealer and request history from the car fax report, but the car fax will only notify u of what was "reported". Indys shops, cp body shop repairs that don't go thru insurance companies are not included in the car fax. If a new car is in an accident they can fix it and still sell it as new cause it's never been titled. Most self insure for that reason and no report shows on the car fax.

No, only the dealer that did the work can tell you what they did. They cannot tell you what other dealers did. Also, unless you're the person who got the work done, they won't give you any records. However, you might be able to ask if specific things were done, like HPFP, water pump, etc. Some dealers are more lenient than others. This was my experience when buying my car.

A BMW dealer can see all recalls and vehicle warranty work performed in DCS. But customer pay can only be seen by the dealer that performed the work. Just like duracell8 stated.
