Update: I flashed my 335AT one year ago and had the following experience:
  • Flash took about 3 minutes with a very solid industrial power supply
  • The PPK remapped my throttle sensitivity for a slightly more eager feel
  • With no other mods, full power felt very slightly increased, though it's hard to be sure because the process resets adaptations resulting in an instant power boost that weakens over the following week or so as the ECU re-learns
  • There's an occasional exhaust gurgle when driving very aggressively while parked in a tunnel with all the windows down
  • My transmission started slipping/grabbing when gently accelerating in 1st/2nd
  • Adding JB4 Map5 caused severe detonation and splattered aluminum all over my spark plugs
  • New stock plugs and JB4 Map1 still suffered from chronic timing drops and spark plug deposits
So a few months ago I re-flashed with the stock map from Daten 2.55 and instantly my transmission problems were cured. I also switched to cooler stock-gapped N20 plugs (SILZKBR8D8S) at the same time and so far it's been running great in Map1 for thousands of miles and I have been periodically examining the plugs under a microscope with no issues found. It feels slightly more powerful than the PPK/Map1 setup but I have not yet revisited Map5.

I figured that was the case. All the guides I've found have been vague. I'm new to flashing and just have some details that I'm not clear on. I was hoping someone would be able to PM me some detailed info.

I have a 135i with the DCT that tries to stall the engine all the time when going in 1st gear, apparently the PPK fix it. From what I have read there is some confusion on ecu's names... It's a MEVD172, on a UC93 USA car, the part number of the ECU is 7645283.

From my understanding the mevd172 is part of the mevd17 familly and as such, should I flash this map or keep on looking for a specific PPK flash ? (really scrubbed the web for that one ahah.. no answers yet... )

Yes, that's correct. P/N 7645283 is part of the MEVD17 ECU family and is a MEVD17.2 DME.

UC93 is a U.S. 135is, not a 135i. For an UC93 with a DCT, the PPK 98G0B ROM is ZB number 8647156.

That can't be normal. Something is wrong with your car or that's fixed in a newer ROM regardless of PPK.

I have flashed the transmission to the latest build, it's much better now, but the engine still rev up a bit (and tries to take off againt the brake when coming to a stop)

These are symptoms sometimes experienced with one of the old E ROMS. There's a SIB somewhere which describes what you are experiencing and recommends an update.

Assuming you are on one of the old ROMS and it's not another issue, moving to one of the later 97 or 98 variants should resolve.

Not sure of your mods but if looking for future MHD / COBB support 98G0B is probably the latest you should go for.

COBB do support 98G1B but not the latest whereas MHD have suggested they are targeting 98G0B at release.

After flashing the BMW PPK I recommend you guys to all reset your car adaptations. Instead of letting the car drive on the old one. The BMW PPK is best when it learns on new base values. If you plan on driving your car with the old ones, you won't notice the performance as much aside from the overrun conditions.

Just repeat the same process as before using the daten you have but instead of choosing the ZB No from the chart, choose the one that it suggested the first time.

Finally flashed the latest PPK variant, the issue is gone.

What would be the ZUSB # for a 135i that has the MEVD1726 DME? I think I may be one of the lucky ones that can flash. According to a UIF dump from WinKFP, I've got 7641298 installed right now with the date as 07.05.2012. Since ze Germans have their dates backwards from the US (and assuming it's consistent with other data fields I've seen), that means I was last flashed in May 2012.

I don't see the # for my DME in the OP table though. Thanks!

The OP's chart shows the ZB number for your DME as 8651834. That's for a US 135is with a DCT transmission.

That DME is listed as `MEVD126` though where my car has `MEVD1726`. There is a listing for that DME, but it's under the 335i and does not have a listing for a DCT/US combo, so I wasn't sure what I should be looking at

Installed successfully no problem and the car drives and everything, However i know have Service Engine Soon light that came on immediately right after I started the car. Not sure if it's related to my oil change that's due in 1400 miles or what??? Not too sure because it came on right after I did the flash & no codes from the JB4...

Nevermind, I guess for some strange reason I had to send the blank file 2x... Everything is good now...

They are intended for the same physical DME, the only thing that differs is the data set (calibration) version.

If it doesn't work, you can always flash back to stock. Both ZB numbers are available in the latest SP daten.

I posted a link to a WinKFP expert mode primer in this post:

Has anyone tried the 8666660 ZB on their car yet?
I want to try this but dunno if this is the correct one for my car.

Supermand333 above flashed 8666660 on his 335i and i do not think he has had any issues so far!

Thanks

The easiest way for you to check would be to look in the data folder of your daten set, open the .HIS files in a notepad and search for your current ZSUB number. This was the easiest way that I found to triple confirm that I was using the correct set of ZSUB numbers...

No issues. I even deleted all resonators last week. It pulls way harder and sounds amazing. With bms intake love it. Wonder how it would do with the jb4 and ********

Can anyone confirm the ZB for a E70 35i? Or whether it's possible? I'm assuming it is since the X1 has a version.

Need some help here guys. I'm a newbie to this. Tried last night to flash the dme. Went to update zusb to flash the ppk. I'm mevd17, so I should be zusb # 8647156 to flash ppk. However I don't have that zusb number when I look for it in the list, all I have are 868xxxx. I can't put it in manually because I get error 704 I think it was. I have the newest spdaten file v60. So what am I missing?
