Default B58 with JB4 with MPPSK, what's the gain? - 01-24-2017, 12:02 PM

Hello Guys,

My boss is owner of a 340i with MPPSK and he want some more boost...Wondering if there is news in this thread? How much hp can we hope with the JB4 and the MPPSK.

Can we push a little bit harder like with an M5 ZCP?

Install it and we'll need to evaluate and see. Worst case it makes the same power as non-PPK cars with a JB4. Best case we're able to make a little more.

The best hope would be some timing improvements and maybe a little more headroom on fueling. But that's just a guess. Worst case it performs the same as a JB4 like the expert says ^^^^^

Thanks guys, told already to my boss but since he's already making 360hp (engine hp), he don't want to take it to win 20-25hp. And he's not the type of guys who makes log to see what he can win.

I thought that the JB4 put more boost, for example +0.5bar than the dme. If the oem boost is 0.8 (don't know the real value), and for exemple 1.1 for the MPPSK, I thought the JB4 would give +0.5bar on the 2 cases.

I am wondering this, as well. Does the JB4 just target an absolute boost in this case, or does it incrementally add to the DME boost?

If it works like the N54 JB4, I believe it just targets its own absolute boost target.

Im interested in this too... Have a MPPSK car coming in April would also spring for a JB4, etc. if it had more then just the same gain without a MPPSK..

How about offer up a free return if it doesnt yield desired results for the first taker..

Maps 1-3 are additive based.

Good to know. Hopefully you can figure out the ethanol issue so we can take advantage of the added boost

I've got a 440i with MPPSK kit on it. I've got the JB4, 4" **, and BMS Intake on order with Mike, should all be installed in the next week or two. What sucks is the tracks don't open up till April here in Canada! Lol

Very interesting et sounds great, do you plan a dyno soon? So we can see the difference with or without the jb4 with the MPPK?

Do the JB4 maps offset crank position sensor signal to pull timing? If not, it'd be cool to run MPPSK + Map 1 + E15 if the fuel trims allow. Even 15% ethanol gives a noticeable amount of timing headroom.

No we lower timing using another method, when needed. The platform is not very E85 friendly. Maybe a small mixture would be workable but generally speaking the more E85 you add the less power you make.

I am able to run E20-E25 at a flat 17.0 PSI with the MPPSK. Terry said there is a slightly higher fuel ceiling with the MPPSK, but not much.

All I can say is with only 91 octane available in CA, I am definitely happy to be able to run a decent mix of ethanol. Car is quite a bit faster than stock and logs are quite safe.

Good enough for me until the flash tuning becomes available. Oh, and the MPPSK is so much fun to mess with

What map you running?

Have you changed the default values?

Your the only one who has posted any positive (or other wise) usage of a jb4 on mppsk

I'm on the fence between jb4 and jb+

With the JB4 Bullitt as also added in the fuel pressure control connector which lets us extend his fuel trims slightly. Since we have more room to work with on fueling with the PPK it's a good use of it.

Terry, Not looking to do anything overly aggressive, how does a JB4 with MAP 1 on MPPSK pair? Is this still experimental or a plug and play?

You mention fuel pressure connector, are you saying without MPPSK (on the b58 motor) it not used? With the MPPSK there is a slight improvement over fueling?

Im torn between JB+ and the JB4 - any advice based on the above?

PPK and map1 works great.

If you are torn get the JB+ from us since we give you 1 year to trade it up for a JB4.
