Only mods are JB4 and DCI (also from Burger) running 93 oct. That's the nice thing about Map 5 though, it doesn't matter what your mods or conditions are, it will automatically tune for peak performance based upon your car and conditions. Map 1 and 2 are preset maps, whereas Map 5 will allow for more boost if the conditions are right (ambient temp, airflow, octane rating, etc).

Map 5 is safer, I'm all for longer life.

Speaking of safety, I assume it would pull timing/ignition/boost if someone were to choose too aggressive of a map for their car or conditions, correct?

How long does it take for Map 5 to adapt. I run map 2 with a mix of 100 racing gas but the proportion changes depending on how much fuel is in the tank when I get gas.

I generally try for 30% of 100 70% of 93.

It learns at WOT in 3rd and 4th gear. You can just leave it on map 5 full time and it should be fine. For more power run 80% race gas and use map 7.

If the DME pulls timing the jb4 will lower boost (on map5).

Terry, I am highly impressed with map 5. Ran Map 5 for a month and switched to Map for a month. All I got done so far for mods is injen DCI. I feel a much better pull with map 5 than map 2. Im going to guess its changes timing, boost based on conditions seems to have better results.

I read somewhere that you had to get to 4500 rpms in map 3/4 to get Map 5 to autotune. Is it EITHER 3 or 4, or both?

Map 5 learns at 4500-redline in 3rd and 4th gears.

Hey Terry,

Didn't want to make a new thread...just wondering if your CAN tool is compatible with the E92 M3? I've picked one up and was wondering if I am able to use only the clear CEL function of it...

So do I have to get it up to 4500 in BOTH gears to learn.. in other words hit 4500 twice... OR just getting it to 4500 in EITHER gear will autotune for me? What if I ht 4500 in 3rd and not in 4th... where will it leave me?

Second part of this question - how many times does this need to be done to fully setup the JB4?

It's a continually learning process, designed so you just drive the car and when the opportunity is right for the JB4 to learn something it will. It will never be "done" and will always be changing based on the conditions of that moment.

Is this how MAP 3 works too?

Similar, only map 3 never goes higher than the meth boost additive.

Default exhaust burble - 12-14-2011, 04:33 PM

Is the exhaust burble that BMW is marketing on their PPK ver.1 something that we can get with JB4?

Is there a way to enable the meth on oil gauge hacking only while in Map 3 automatically?

For example, as soon as you switch to map 3 the meth on oil is activated, and once you switch to another map it goes back to oil temp without having to go into the commands to manually change it.

That would be awesome, I believe this would be very beneficial to some of us.

I just wanted to thank Terry for always being available to his customers. Today, Christmas, I sent him an email expecting a response later this week at the earliest. I received an email within 30min and he answered questions for me all day. You won't find better service anywhere!
Thank you, Terry and Co.
