Default F vs Z seried N20 JB4 - 04-07-2019, 08:24 PM

Hello! I just picked up an e89 Z4 28i N20 and my buddy has a F series N20 JB4 he isn't using. Can I just flash the E series firmware for it and use positaps for the CAN wires? Or is it a separate board all together? Been having a hard time trying to get an answer to this question.

Thanks!

It should be the same firmware. The E89 is the only E that ever used the N20. I doubt they made a Ecu just for that. It’s most likely running standard F series electronics.
The posi taps are dead though. Obsolete. You need the obd cable.

Thanks for the reply!

The Z4 instructions still say to use positaps. Is that incorrect now? I know the F series cars use OBD

Terry will have to answer that. I was under the impression that everything had gone to OBD2.
