Default Check engine light on MHD, JB4 bef, xhp stage 3 - 07-20-2020, 10:20 AM

Ive just got a check engine notification, i am mhd and jb4 bef stage 2 with xhp stage 3 and im wondering if anyone has gotten the same? Is there a way i could check to see if the tunes are the cause myself? This is new, i have had to reflash and tune my car a few days ago.

My steering wheel light with exclamation point does show when starting the car but then turns off.

Thanks!

Hi,

We’d need a JB4 log to evaluate.

If you have JB4 mobile / Bluetooth - you can pull codes, log, email etc all from the app

Hey i still don’t see a log?

That mixture control code can get thrown when your trims max positive or negative too long.

I may be wrong, but your engine temp is in the 130's. The JB4 has a protection mechanism that will not allow boost to build if engine temp is below 160.

Drive around a while and get your engine up to temp. Then do a proper log.

Put it in manual, 3rd gear, full throttle, 2krpms to redline, then shift in fourth and hold it there for another second or two.

Post that log.

Also turn on 6cylinder logging in the JB4 settings.

I will get that done this afternoon. You are mentioning just 3rd to 4th, not out of 4th? In regards to the engine temp, it tends to run around the lower 200s. I would assume that is a good temp?

Need to see the full range of 3rd gear at full throttle with the shift into 4th covering the first few seconds.

Temp in the 200s is perfect.

That sounds good, I should get that done in the next few hours. Should I do this on the 18_T15 or 17_T2?

Got it. I got confused for a second, I was like, this seems like the exact same problem I am working on with Justin & then i saw this.

I saw your last post- either file works, but make sure that DSC is fulllly disabled as it will interfere if not.

I did two runs, 3rd at 2k to redline into 4th for a few seconds. It felt extremely sluggish at the start of 3rd, seemed to pick up I'd say around 5k. I'm assuming what I've attached was done correctly. Any advice helps!

Aren't you trying run the BMS backend flash? It looks like that hasnt been enabled. You have to turn on fud #6.

Can you do that and then post another couple logs?

The sluggish feeling at low rpms is normal as the turbo hasnt yet fully spooled up. It should hit hard once you hit 3k rpms. It will then lose steam at 6k due to reaching the end of the turbos efficiency range.

FUD is future use D. Bit number 6 in the FUD menu enables the jb4 to recognize that you have a backend flash loaded with f chassis bmw.

There is a menu in the JB4 settings called FUD. Open that and find bit 6.

Yes. Connect to the JB4 and go to that menu to the bits/options. Enable 6.

I am afraid I cannot comment on the steering wheel controls. I have never used them, I have only ever used the app for settings changes.

Also turn on the 6 cyl timing logging.

While you are at it, can you take screen shots of all your JB4 settings? That would be helpful.

Plus new logs.
