Default Drivetrain malfunction - 07-20-2020, 09:03 PM

Hello

I've been running a Jb4 on map 2 for a while now and I love it. I had no issues until today. I took the car out and a couple of minutes into the drive, an error popped up on the idrive saying "Drivetrain malfunction: You can continue driving. No roadside assistance needed. Reduced engine performance." There was no CEL. But a yellow spanner popped up on the live ****pit.

It happened when I tried going from partial throttle to almost full throttle while overtaking a truck. It hadn't even been five minutes into the drive. The car jerked for a second and it felt like it lost a bit of power before regaining composure. I switched to map 1 just to be safe and drove around for a quick minute before pulling over.
Outside temp - 94F
I was running the JB4 connect app and the IAT was around 135F and transmission temp around 190F. I pulled over, turned the car off and pulled codes
11A605 was present. Cleared code and started the car. No error. Drove carefully for a minute or two before switching to map 2 again and then gave it the beans. It drove like there was nothing wrong for the three hour drive with lots of WOT. IAT dropped to 117-118F though it did go to 132F at times. Trans temp was around 200F.

Details:

G20 330i B46
JB4 map 2
58/16//5
3.5gal E85 topped up with remaining 93octane for a full tank (15.9gal)
No other mods

The log attached below is from right after the issue occured, after switching to map 1. I deleted all other logs and deleted the map 2 log by mistake.

Should I be worried? Any idea why it could've happened?

Regards,
Vipin

PS - I was extremely low on fuel. It said only around 20 miles left before I ran out of fuel (BMW connected app said only 1 gallon or less of fuel remaining in the tank). Could that be a reason?

"Fuel system: Delivery performance for full throttle too low"

Sounds like something with the fuel level or low pressure pump. If it's fine now that you added fuel probably nothing to worry about.

The car is fine now. I filled her up right after the error popped up. No performance issues since. Drove her hard and fast the past few days trying to make it throw up the error again but nada.

Im hoping it was because of low fuel. There was less than a gallon. Never again will I let the tank run dry.

Hi,

I did look at the log. It showed an an enormous amount of torque at a low rpm. That would do it. The tranny was way over loaded?? Whp was pretty much ok.

Not sure why you had such high readings.

I had similar issues on my b58. Occurred during aggressive WOTs.

Enjoy

Alex

Thank you very much! How did you know the torque was high? I'm asking because I'm a noob and would like to keep an eye out for it in the future. It happened one more time after that but again, fuel was low. No problems after that.
