Default Fuel-It! M5/S63TU development thread - 05-23-2016, 11:01 AM

Hey All,

We got in our new (to us) M5 and did some baseline testing while it's completely stock.

Size: 86.6 KB

On the dyno last week and it did 464whp and 435wtq on 91 octane fuel.

Size: 198.7 KB

Also still on 91 octane we did a few VBOX runs with it and it did a best of 5.67"s in our 40-90mph testing.

Now that's behind us we'll start upgrading so we can unlock the potential of this beast!

No meth for us...we'll convert to E85.

Of course we'll be running all the BMS goodies and a JB4 with BCM.

Correct, non-LCI.

Ok so you will make the leap and get those hard to reach flex connects up and running.

Sounds interesting!

Yes, we plan on experimenting with the flex connects.

Here's an update. The new BMS goodies have been installed and are up and running. They include the JB4 Stage 2, BCM, intakes, and charge *****.

We have now dropped about 1/2 second off our 40-90 time with these mods. I'm sure we could do much better, even on 91 but we have maxed out our trims so we'll need to move on to additional fueling and the flex connects.

We've run map 2, 3, and 6.

Map 3 is fine but trims are high. (Targets 18psi)

Map 2 ran lean due to fueling and trims being maxed out. (Targets 22psi)

We also ran map 6 and targeted 20psi, but again ran lean due to trims maxed out. So for now we'll leave it on map 3 until we get the fueling dialed in.

The max psi Terry ran was 30psi making 770whp with 100% meth+96octane fuel.....how far are you aiming in terms of power?

im also curious about the full e85, will you need new injectors/fuel pump like with other cars? And also will jb4 be capable of requesting the additional volume of fuel needed with e85 without a backend flash?

Why did you install the charge ***** if you don't plan to run meth?

Very interested in what solution you may have for raising fuel delivery. Keep in mind you can run 22psi without fueling issues if flashed. The limits you see now are not the fuel system per se but rather the targets the DME thinks vs reality.

Not sure if its the same on the S63, but all the other BMW turbo engines if boosted, usually result in the stock charge pipe cracking.

You will run out of fueling far earlier on E85.

We are well aware of the limitations.

We have the CP's for testing and development purposes.

Correct...it's the trims, as stated.

For full E85...you'll most likely need a flash. We'll have to see how it goes.

Not yet, we've been so busy with the S55 stuff we haven't had time to spend on the S63.

We had to put in 3 gallons of E85 to get our octane up enough so our timing didn't tank. No surprise but we are pretty maxed out on fueling at this time.

Stage 1 fuel system upgrade design is about completed and we should have a few prototypes back in a couple weeks to begin testing.

Steve FYI

Initially map2 ran lean on my non-CP car...although the CP cars run richer on map2 and have ideal a/f

I upgraded to the new JB4 1.5 version firmware and latest July2016 BMW software(all modules) and the car has proper a/f ratios on map2 now.... (no aftermarket ECU flash needed to run map2)

Thanks, we're already running 1.5v but will start working on a new firmware version pretty soon.

We haven't verified the BMW software is the latest but will as the car was just recently in the dealership.

Thanks
