Default ? about 29E0 fuel mix control on cold idle + log - 02-22-2019, 01:42 PM

I get the 29E0 error code and the idle is lumpy when cold.

at first I got:

2A2C fuel mixture control 2
29D1 Misfirings, cylinder 5
29D1 Misfirings, cylinder 4

so I cleaned the 4-5-6 sparkplugs & coils, and Im left with the 29E0 when cold.

Did a log but I do not think it shows anything wrong, but Im no expert, so would like some comments

How should I proceed , getting at the cause of that error & idle ?

(I recently changed no 6 injector because it was leaking)

Log doesn’t look bad, nothing jumps out.

Mixture control can happen when trims on one bank or both max one way or other too long- usually.

How old are your injectors

I see, It seems like its only on cold starts, when warmed up its just like a very slight stumble when idling, which many N54 does as I understand it.

my injectors are 8 and 9 index, I recently tested them for leaks and only one was leaking, which I replaced.

maybe I should go all in and get index 12´s..

Expensive, but worth it imo.

My old 335 had a pesky mixture control fault- would come & go - replaced all the injectors when one went out- & the code went away.

I got a misfire on Cyl 3 , the injector was done for, changed it out with a good index 8 and no more codes.
still a very slight tremble in idle.. Ngk´s and coils on the way, will see if it does anything , will still look into index 12s later on

anyway here is a new log, how does it look?

Boost / timing all look ok.

Your trims look to get a little wonky up top towards redline... something to keep an eye on.

Fuel mix?

thank you, what should I look for regarding the trims, I dont fully understand the explanation of it from terrys logging post.

this was pump gas Shell Vpower 100(E10) and alcohol/water in the CP
(60-70ish / 40-30) .. thinking of trying adding Ethanol to the fuel to about E25
to see what happens.
This was the first time I ran the Raceflash , usually I run the pumpflash.

back again with index 12 injectors.

raceflash map 5 log - how does it look compared with the previous?

pulls a lot harder than the pump flash on wot.

Timing, Boost & fuel pressure look good.

However your trims are maxing negative (pulling fuel)

May need to adjust meth flow a bit to bring trims back closer to center

thank you

what would the ideal trim curve/numbers be on a wot pull?

what setting should I change with the meth? (Im using 93% ethanol btw)

back again:

Here is a 3rd gear wot - raceflash map5 on shell vpower100 and no spraying this time

how does it look ?

at least the fuel trims are not going down like when spraying..and it feels smooth , but maybe a little bit clutch slippage

but Im unsure as to how I can add meth and adjust settings so the fuel trims stays in balance...?

This doesn’t look bad- you are however getting some timing corrections across multiple cylinders.

Your LPFP touches the 50s - we might be closing in on the comfortable limits of that.

Do you have a log with the methanol on?

yes the previous log you commented on is with spray..only difference to this log is the meth is turned off.

I will flash back to the pump bef and relog.

Im not running any added E to the fuel so Im not sure why the LPFP would do that..

I don’t see an upgraded LPFP in your signature - do you have an upgrade?

no , no upgraded pump since we dont have E85 around here, this is the first time I have seen it under 70 in a log,it just touches 58-59 at the end of the run..

I will do logs with the pump bef , with and without spray on and look at the fuel trims and LPFP..

Back with a new log.

map 3 , 50 meth adder

Other than the fuel trims getting pulled because of the CP alcohol spray, I think the numbers look good, am I right or wrong?

Can I up the boost somehow?.. hitting about 17 psi here. But with the "extra" octane from the alcohol I was thinking about raising the boost and maybe get less fuel pulled then..

should I up the meth adder?.. is that safe?

p.s:I dont know how to adjust fuel scalars to otherwise fix the fuel trims

Log does look a bit better.

More boost = map 6

Trims can be adjusted via tunerpro (custom) or FOL adjusted

based on what i see- you have enough fuel on the high & low to bump things up a bit.

Map 6 is obviously a bit more hands on- assuming your settings are correct- you can def. run a bit more boost than what you are currently running- imo 18-19 psi without a problem.

what about increasing the meth adder on map 3 would that not lead to same effect?
