Default Single turbo kit BEF - 07-28-2019, 03:07 PM

Hello, just got done installing my single kit.

I have all supporting mods:

75% E85
BMS RACE IC
TIAL BOV w/ BMS chargepipe
Stage 2 fuel it pump
Index 12s
ngk 95770 gapped .022
Eldor coils

I flashed the I8AOS_ST_TS_THR because this seems to be the closest to what I have, but I'm running lean in logs and getting thrown to map 4.

Boost gets up to 15-16 lbs but afrs are not looking good.

Also, have codes 29E1, 29E0. Mixture controls.

Does this flash account for the e85 or do I need to flash the ST_E85_PI_TS_THR even though I do not have port injection yet?

Did you just flash the bef & not update to single turbo firmware?

Yes. I was not aware that I needed the firmware even though I had no mac solenoid yet.

I uploaded the ST firmware earlier today and left the car ready for some work tomorrow.

Will the firmware cause wrong afr readings?

Also, which BEF do I run?

A mac solenoid is required for JB4 boost control...so that is a must.

Sounds like you need to finish up install 100%- then flash the appropriate ST bef based on your fueling.

I dont see how having the jb4 control boost is a requirement to getting the car running fine on wastegate spring pressure.

Is it not the BEF that controls everything else? Can I not log without a mac solenoid to make sure afrs are fine?

I am single turbo, twin scroll and e85. There is no BEF for I8AOS with these options. Only st e85 NON-TS, and st e85 ts with PI. Which do I flash?

Use the i8aos st_e85 file

What size turbo.

I’m assuming u didn’t go ST to just run gate too lol, make sure you get the proper Mac solenoid installed

What kit are you using? Most come with a Mac now.

Of course not! My foot is a bit heavy though so I kind of wanted to stay without the solenoid until I got port injection.

I got a DocRace 6266 JB kit that didnt come with it.

I'm actually trying to purchase the solenoid and tmap from BMS right now but it does not let me complete my purchase and I've sent them an email already.

Thank you, I will try changing the flash and keep an eye on the afrs. Just want to get it dailyable so its out of the shop.

Got the right flash in, and updated the firmware on the jb4.

Here is a new log. Didnt throw me out of map 1 and afrs are looking alot better although trims max out.

Could this be the amount of e85 in the tank?

Grab a longer run with a shift or two. Fuel pressure is definitely going to be the issue here though.

I'm at half tank so I'll throw some 93 in there and get that log tomorrow as I'm away from the car right now.

Thank you for the support.

diluting your mix should help your fuel pressure hang in there a bit & in turn should bring those trims down.

A bit late on the log, and I apologize for it not being that long, have to go far to get an open road in Miami.

Filled her up with 93. I'd say about 40-45% e85 is in the tank.

2nd - 3rd gear a LOUD backfire after getting out of 2nd. I have NLS installed but I've never used it. Car felt great throughout.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thank you.

This is much improved.

A bit under target with boost- can fix that later

Trims come down to low 30s which is improved

Hpfp- I see a small dip, but that looks better - I’d still dilute the mix down a bit tho.

Timing- a little noise on 5 in the beginning but it looks like that smooths out.

Dilute your mix a little more e30/35 and let’s see

Thank you! I agree it does look a lot better. It'll be a while before I get the mix diluted as I don't really drive much.

Hopefully the mac solenoid will be here by the end of the week and I can get that setup for better boost control.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Sounds good. Once we find a happy middle ground for your gas mix / fuel pressure- we can see what we can do about turning things up a little bit.

Just a little update: installed the MAC solenoid and the 3.5 bar TMAP sensor.

Boost target is 17 psi now, and the car feels absolutely insane. Trims are still not that consistant I think and it might just be the e85 in the tank as I've only wasted about 1/4 since the last time I posted.

With that being said, can I go to map 3*? Or should I hold off until I waste some more?

Heres a log from today: 2-3-4

Thanks.

Hello! Its been a while. Havent really been pushing the car.

I've gone through about 2 tanks of gas since. Running only 93 now.

Flashed regular I8AOS_ST_TS and did a short 2-3-4.

Seems bank 1 was lean in 4th gear at full throttle. This wasnt happening with the e85 flash, even though I was barely running any e85.

What should I do?

I would say the mileage of the car (77k) but I haven't had a single code since I installed the single kit. Again, this doesnt happen with the e85 flash.

Should I try the non-twin scroll flash? Although I dont see how and if that would change anything.

you can try a different flash, or reset your lambda 02 adaptations & monitor that bank for a bit.

Wouldn't be the first time i've seen the heat of a ST kit toast up some tired OEM o2's either.

In the jb4 single turbo setup page, it says with bit 7 enabled, the o2 adaptations get reset on every startup. Is this enabled by default? Because it only tells you how to disable it.

In which case, resetting the adaptations wouldnt do anything?

You need to go into your FUD settings & check to see if its enabled or disabled.

So I was able to check, next to Future Use D there is a "0" and when I click on it, none of the options are selected.

This means that it resets adaptations every startup correct?
