Default Issues with JB4 in 2021 Kia K5 - 12-15-2021, 09:32 AM

Hey guys!

Iím new here and Iím hoping somebody can help me out. I had a 2017 and a 2019 Kia Optima 1.6l with a JB4 installed. I LOVED the thing. Never had any problems running maps 1 & 2 with no aftermarket parts besides spark plugs. When I got the 2021 K5 I was excited for the new JB4 to come out and support my car. So as soon as it became available I snapped one up. Unfortunately my experience hasnít been as positive this time around. Im unable to run any maps without stuttering during acceleration. The only thing I did was reduce the gap on the factory plugs to .024. Im really hoping that somebody here can give me some insight as to what I need to do to enable even a moderate performance boost on my vehicle. Also, Im running 93 octane.

Any help would be appreciated, and if any logs are needed please let me know and I can collect some.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have the 1.6 or 2.5? Yes, please do a log so we can see settings, firmware, etc?

Steve,

Thanks for the quick response! I have the 1.6l. What type of logs would be helpful?

To properly evaluate the tuning, we'll need a full throttle JB4 log from 40-90mph on a safe private track.

Sure thing. I was able to grab two logs today. Not as much stuttering today of course, but here you go.

Thanks again.

You need to stay WOT over all logs, all the time.

Ok, my mistake. Thanks. Hopefully I maintained WOT as necessary this time.

Timing looks pretty wonky, and your MAF settings are incorrect.

Set fuel bias to 30 across the board and relog map1, and then do a similar log on map0.

Ok. Iíll change the fuel bias and log another few runs when I can. Iím glad to hear that thereís some wonkiness there and it isnít just in my head. Stupid question, what should my MAF setting be (also, is it labeled in the settings as MAF or something else)? When I first configured the settings I found some conflicting info or the forums, and Iím not familiar enough to have known which settings to apply.

So should I have the TMAP setting at 0 instead of 1?

Well hopefully the TMAP setting is correct because I am unable to change it. I keep getting an unable to write error. I’ll update when I post logs.

Thanks

No, you can't adjust that specific setting.

Fuel bias is your MAF settings. You have them all at 0.
