So overall terry the N20 tunes and mods still need a bit more R&D to ensure motor life reliability?

Terry, has this feature already been implemented for N20s?
Thanks

Nope. AFAIK everything but the pistons is shared. Usually 320i's are high compression (11:1) but there're low compression ones too. And all 328i's are low compression (10:1).
There are some other minor variations too. For instance here in Brazil we have a flexfuel variation with different fuel lines, fuel pump, ethanol sensor, etc.

Sound like quite a few N20's has died with just Map2 and d0wnpipe... Running anything else than Map1 seems to be a bit of a gamble.

The motor just needs stronger rods. Seems that is what fails at higher torque levels.

So if I wanted to just do jB4 on our 528i Xdrive, do you think it's foolish for a daily driver? Naturally the power level is lower that a full meth/dp setup

Have you installed the meth kit yet? I have the same car with dp jb4 and intake. I'd love to know if you have had any problems in terms of reliability.

What are the options for changing the rods? Can anything be done about it?

Yeah, I think they're able to rebuild the bottom end with forged parts. As far as I know they use N54 parts. The N54 rod is 0.3 mm longer but the N20 wrist pin is 0.3 mm offset (from piston centerline). N54 rod bearings can also be used but the crankshaft has to be machined. Regarding the pistons, I don't know if N54 pistons can be used.
Unless he takes his car to Alex's shop, I don't think he's gonna be able to buy the parts from Alex. I already tried several times.
CP Carrillo can custom make pistons and rods but not bearings. I think they already have the molds so you won't need to send them the parts for molding.
I've been told JE and Pauter have already made forged pistons and rods but you'd need to contact them.
Get in touch with Anthony @ VAC Motorsports (anthony@vacmotorsports.com). He's sourcing the parts for me.

My engine should be up and running in two weeks but I'm pretty sure I'm not the first one.

Is there some install notes that I can follow for the meth kit for N20?
From the burgertuning website, the installation notes applies for N54 and N55... Should I follow the N55?
