Default In-Tank fuel pump upgrade on stock wiring - 05-16-2019, 05:08 PM

Hi Team.

Just a quick one. I've got a Walboro 525 on the way to replace the factory fuel pump. (Planning more boost and heavier E mixtures)

It looks like this pump can draw ~25A in normal operation.

Is it fine to use the stock wiring for this or should I wire in a 60A horn relay direct from the battery?

Car is an 08 6MT 135i

Thanks,
Tim

your going to need to run a separate power feed from battery, I don't think you'll need 60amps. I have not heard of anyone running a stand alone 525 pump, usually they are the secondary pump, not saying it can't but there might be other issues.

Thanks,

I know that horn relays come in 30 or 60A. I think 30 is a little tight for the application where 25A draw is normal.

I'll see if there's a 45 or similar available.

I think a direct battery power feed is a good idea.
Thanks for your input.

Tim
