Default X4 M40i - JB4 Testing - Logs + Dyno - 06-27-2016, 08:14 PM

Started this thread to share with everyone Dynos/Logs/ results of a Stock X4 M40i (Similar M2 engine) and after JB4 Testings Stages (BoostSafety 18, 20), 93 pump, E30 blend and before/after EWG wires.

I've been sharing some logs for the past month or 2, drag strip and dyno with Terry.. But thought I share publicly now..

Car: 16' X4 M40i
Mod: JB4 OBD2 Map1 (no EWG wires)
New Log with BoostSafety at 20

First log I let it auto shift, second log I manually shifted at 6k rpm

I'll post more stuff later going to start posting more for feedback..
Weather today was 80F

8/10 = Map4 log on 93

Couldn't upload 8/9 and 8/11 logs due to a size restrictions so uploaded it here..

I see you are triggering a false alarm map4 fail-over, so raise that safety setting to say 20psi as a first move.

Yep that was when the settings were at 18 and I questioned via email on raising it to 20

You're referring to the 5-21 logs correct?

Will re-dyno soon...

In the m2 I have to move the safety boost to 20 psi?

Dyno Day Logs & Dyno Graph

92-94F temp 30% humidity, weather sucks but if numbers look ok in this weather should be much better in cooler weather.

4.7 gal of e85 + 14 gal of 93 = e30 blend
JB4 OBD2 version Flex Fuel Wires no ewg wires

5th gear runs then 4th gear runs

Nice!
Yo I've spoken to Vinny before about buying an Ej257 built long block way back when I was new to subies, but found a really great shop in my neighborhood.

Looks to me like map 7 is a little sku'd due to an inconsistent pull. Look at the RPM fluctuation when you should have been making peak power.

I wish DCT, has 8 speed AT

Map7 pull was on 5th gear , later runs were on 4th gear don't know why Dyno operator did it in 4th gear.

It was probably a slip on the dyno then. If so, easy enough to correct.

Maybe also because I don't have EWG wires ?
Probably a custom map6 will dyno and run better w/ backend flash

I don't think so, that'll limit boost...not traction.

Why aren't you running EWG wires?

EWG wires coming soon, wanted to get an idea of what I could do before.
Planning to do backend flash + ewg wires in the upcoming weeks after I hit drag-strip.

Going to hit drag-strip tomorrow, but crappy one on wednesday only allows 3 runs per car. So will prob do map7 first run, map2 2nd run and map1 last run.
And log of course

FOL won't help your HPFP, only your trims. Correct, once you see it dipping in to the 10's you're likely to get misfires.

Stage2 Fuel-Pump wont be any benefit for me since the weak point is HPFP correct ?

I ran twice last night (too crowded) had prob about e20 blend 1/4 tank, first run map2 about 1hr 1/2 or 2 hr later second run in map7 (manually shifting). Both time still only managed 13.1@104 but i run 13.1@103 on 93.
I'm sure the 70-75F with the insane humidity was the factor, gotta get these ewg wires in asap.

Once you're at the limit of the HPFP, you have 2 choices:

1. lower boost a bit and enjoy the car as is, you're done
2. get supplemental fueling (TBI or PI) and keep cranking up the octane and boost

TBI and PI require a bigger LPFP.

HPFP is about maxed.

If you decide you want to upgrade the LPFP and run PIO, let us know and we'll hook you up. We have a couple of our new PI systems running on M2's but nothing on the X yet to my knowledge. Same motor but obviously a different platform.

3. Run less ethanol. Which will probably mean less boost depending on your current boost targets. See #1 lol

When you say HPFP is about maxed ?
I looked at all my logs and my FP_H is always above 11 on WOT even on map2/map7
