Hey guys,

I have another very interesting phenomenon.

Yesterday I have did some 100-200 kph logs.

The first 3 runs I have did in comfort mode, traction control disabled, and manuel shift mode
Best time: 9,073 sec.
Please see Logs No. 1-3

After that I have did another run, but not 100-200 kph, but in sports mode, also traction control disabled and manuel shift mode. To my astonish avg_ign allways raises up in sport mode... Afterwards I switched back to comfort mode und avg_ign lowered down to 0.3
Please see Log No. 4

I have noticed that my car have much more throttle closures in sports mode. Do someone have any explanation for this phenomenon?

Looks like DME is targeting lower timing in sport mode and may have some impact on why the I avg. rises. Not sure why the difference though.

Interesting. I wonder if this is a universal feature or an issue with the car.

I noticed this as well on a m135i xdrive. With dsc off adv go high. In sport or sport+ it was 10 max.

Terry,
Steve,

again, is the value of Default wastegate Position at the Settings page used for ewg cars with obd2 Firmware? A colleague of mine with a m235i, too, says that there is a huge difference between setting it to 80 instead of 0. I have set it to 0 and 80 for testing, I don`t felt any difference.

I'd recommend you set it to default.

Hi Steve,

today I have updated my jb4 to firmware 7. Could you please have a look at this 3 logs? It`s very interesting that FF/Wastegate Adaption learned down from 102 with firmware 5 to 60 with firmware 7.

Thanks a lot.

Regards
Stefan

Thanks for your support, Steve.

Additional I made 2 Logs with custom Map6. Can you also have a look at it?
Should I also raise FOL to 70 at Map6? Everything else looking good?

Btw. what do you think, should I drive Map5 or Map6? Which of them seems to be better and stronger?

Steve,

today Ive did some 100-200 kph runs with map 6 and pid gain raised to 25. It seems that boost is now closer to target. I have also noticed that timing drops at around 6000 rpms especially at log 3. Do you agree? Is that worrying or should I change anything? Can I leave pid gain at 25 or are there any negative aspects?

Thanks for your great support

I wouldn't have PID any higher than need to maintain boost. For you default is 10 so I'd leave it around there unless there is a specific reason to change it. Too high and it may lead to oscillations.

Log looks okay...not a fan of the timing corrections you're seeing as they are pretty consistent, but could be torque related? :

Hey Guys,

here`s an actually log of my m235i.

Please have a look at it.

I have tried to set FOL to 70 but then I always got a fault code "fuel pressure high below target...". With 60 I think it`s still looking good, trims arent maxed out.

Would you change anything e.g. boost targets?

Thanks for your support

To avoid asking I decided to run firmware 5 because in some case it feels much stronger than firmware 7.

FOL 70 works for most people since most people don't go deep into 6th gear like you do. I had the same issue at FOL 73. I'm trying FOL 71, but haven't had the chance to try it in 6th gear yet.

Logs look good, but you loose the time data on all 6 cylinders when you went back to v5 firmware.

Side note: I'm very jealous of your boost curve. Wish I could get that on my e38 mix (pump gas + e85).

Fuel pressure below target may be due to your HPFP pressures dropping to low and maxing out your HPFP. In addition, some cars are more susceptible to the FOL being set to high.

As everybody recommended I have updated my JB4 to firmware v7.

Since that my car isn`t able to hit boost target anymore. When I raised FF/Wastegate Adaption it always learned down very fast. With older firmware boost was always +-0.5 psi to target, now we are around 2 psi lower than target. That`s why my car feels much weaker now.

So please tell me what I can to solve my problem? As already told FF/Wastegate Adaption won`t help, so time for Duty Bias tuning?

Logs attached

Thanks

Most everyone has the same "problem" when going to to the new 6cyl timing. New firmware has a more accurate AvgIgn now so it may reduce boost.

Your PWM and FF are pretty close to each other so I don't think duty bias will do much for you. Curious to see BMS respond on the duty bias though as I was looking to adjust mine as well even though I'm on stock turbo.

Why is your PID gain at 25? Set it back to 10 and see how that does.

Set all your duty biases up to 5000 rpms to 50. Then set 5500 to 55, 6000 ~7000 to 60 and see how that does. Leave FF where it is.
