Proper orientation of factory oil cooler valve/spring -

I'm changing back to the oem oil cooler thermostat valve for winter and can't remember how the piston and spring were oriented in the housing. I can't even seem to find a picture/description of the correct oem placement on the web. Which way does it go? I think the spring is inserted first then the piston (pin inside spring) then cover? Or does the piston go in first then spring and finally cover?
