Default JB4 Menu 10 & 12 Ideal settings? - 04-14-2017, 09:35 AM

Have a 2013 N55 E82. Never hear any wastegate rattling.

Adjustable ranges:

- Menu 10 = 0 to 5k
- Menu 12 = 2 to 3.5k

Is the ideal setting starting at the maximum for both fields? Menu 10 set to 5k and Menu 12 set to 3.5k?

I still have the boost/PWM oscillation under part throttle, but it seems to be reduced the higher I change the #'s.

For performance/efficiency, are higher numbers better?

Here's a quick log with the maximum settings. Menu 10 @ 5k and Menu 12 @ 3.5k.
Looks like the boost is holding right along the target with this setup.

They are more driveability settings than performance settings. Too high and you can get surges and oscillations, especially at part throttle. Too low and you can get lag and underboost. Usually the ideal settings is somewhere in the middle, with the right responsiveness you are looking for, and the least side effects. I suggest starting with the defaults and change one at a time with small increments.

Thanks, that's what I've done. I have an N55ppk and have never heard any rattling. I was getting boost/pwm oscillation under part throttle with default settings. So I increased to max. I see no side effects. And in the log the boost is tight with the target. At default settings the boost was wandering as well.

Reviving this to add my experience for others doing research: On my E N55 PWG with Pure Stage 2, I tried everything from 2400 to 3300 in menu 12, and the sweet spot seems to be 3100. It's the only setting I'm not sure has oscillated with partial pedal, and the car is generally a lot more responsive than default 2400.

(Menus 10 and 11 default.)

Thanks for the input. I have stock turbo, and menu 12 is set to 2500. I do notice jerkiness at times when accelerating from a stop (MT). Could this setting have any effect on smoothness in partial acceleration?

It definitely does, smoothness is the lack of oscillations in throttle/boost. Not sure what effect turbo size has on the ideal number though.
