Default N55 cutting throttle in 3rd gear only - 07-07-2016, 01:35 PM

Hey guys,

2014 335i EWG, Auto (8spd ZF), Big turbo, Port Injection, currently running E70ish.

I've been creeping the boost up, currently mid 20's psi. Started seeing Target along with Throttle (and boost), getting cut in 3rd gear datalog runs. For whatever reason, I'm seeing this only in 3rd gear runs. 4th gear pulls no problem. Avg Ign looks good (less than 1). Only thing I have pointed out, is on the 3rd gear run, Ign_1 drops right before throttle/target start to drop, so I have to believe that is causing the target to get cut. Any ideas why I would see this in 3rd gear only? Attached are logs from each 3rd and 4th gear runs.

Thanks for any help!

The DME is requesting the cut. As to why I can't see in the log. Did you screw with the flash at all? Maybe trans slippage?

I haven't touched the DME yet. Possible trans slip I suppose, but I would think that would be more likely to show up in higher gears. 4th gear pulls like crazy. And a 1st through 4th works well also. I can only get to show up in a 3rd gear pull.

Traction issue? Is DTC turned off?

RPM line is a little inconsistent so possibly either of what Terry / Steve suggested.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm thinking trans slip is the most likely culprit right now. Had it on the dyno yesterday, had tire slip in 4th gear, and this dme throttle cut in 5th gear, so "only" 550 whp on dynojet 248. I need to get in touch with someone able to flash the dme and see if there is a way to increase trans line pressure. ESS software engineer did not get back to me, so they must be a no. I'll pose the question to Eurocharged and Mission I guess. Any others explore this yet?

Default Shift to 3rd Throttlr cut Auto Trans - 11-18-2017, 11:51 PM

Hey guys, I think I have been getting a similar issue. My issue seems to happen in the transition to 3rd gear. It will hold the throttle even though I have pedal consistent the whole way through. This just started recently and I have had the same mods and settings for months on end with no issues.

I only have FMIC, Charge pipe, intake, Down Pipe and JB4 on map 5.
I logged while it did it and it can clearly see the throttle hold on my shift to 3rd.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Jordan

You'd have to post a log of the issue. Photo does not contain all information on vehicle.
