Default FBO minus intercooler - what map to run? - 04-28-2015, 01:52 PM

Current mods are in my sig. Running approprimately E30 with 94 pump gas on map 5 and Steve has confirmed logs look good. Re-attached them here for reference (1st 3 pulls were for tuning). I'll be bumping up to E40 once I finish this tank of gas.

Getting a kitten-free ** installed this weekend too, so I'll have FBO except for the intercooler. No meth kit either.

What map should I run? When is it appropriate to run maps 2 or 7? Is it safer to just always run map 5?

Thanks!

Map 5 looks best

The ethanol makes IAT much less important. I run a very aggressive tune with the stock FMIC, just ~E40 and my timing isn't affected.

Can't say that is really true. It may help a little since it burns cooler, but with back to back pulls your IAT will still clime and timing will be pulled if it goes high enough. But map 5 is what you should run.

Thanks guys.

Can someone explain why map 5 is best, and what the purposes of maps 2 and 7 are?

Map 2 is FBO with 93 octane. Map 7 is FBO with E40+ or race gas. Since you are between those, Map 5 is best because it will auto tune to your hardware and fuel. So you will get out something between map 2 and 7.

You need to do 3 3rd gear pulls to redline.

Off topic, but looking at your sig I saw GFB DV+ and had no idea what that was. Thanks to Google, now I want one. Does it simply take the place of the stock diverter? I didn't think you could upgrade it because it was built on the turbo. How tough it it to get to and replace? I kinda like my BOV sound, will I really lose that?

Thanks,

Troy

I didn't do the work myself, I leave that to the pros... hehe. So I can't comment on how much of a PITA it is, but it does take a few hours since you have to drop the water pump and I believe there was some sort of liquid flush also needed.

I ordered mine off eBay I think because the price was right. Just make sure you order part # T9356.

You can download the install instructions from the GFB website but they're not N55-specific.
