Default S55 E85 BEF cold start issue (with log) - 09-11-2018, 10:56 AM

Hi guys,

My car doesnt like to start after sitting for a while on 100% e85. I am running the e85 BEF and the most recent firmware of jb4 with future use D bit 2 turned on for cold start fuel enrichment

The car will crank, try to idle and die within 2-3 seconds. It did this twice. then on the third try I have to "help" it with the gas pedal and it will sputter then start and act fine the entire time I am driving it.

Can anyone see anything weird or off within the log itself? This has been driving me crazy.

We'll have to find the cranking tables and adjust those if FUD.2 isn't doing it. What's the weather like there?

Ambient is about 75*. Relative humidity is around 70%.. not sure if that makes a difference.

It has been raining all week, but the car is always stored indoors. Let me know if there are any additional logs or tests you would like me to do.

Nothing major there, strange we don't have any issues with ours now with the FUD option. Where previously, it would do something similar. I'll move this thread to the //M support area so I remember to follow up later.

Made an update to the BEF that should improve cold idle on E85. Posting it to the BEF thread shortly.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the update. I actually switched back to the RACE BEF (loaded it on 9/26) on 93 octane but am still experiencing the cold start issue. On cold start, the rpms will wander between 300 and 1300 and sometimes even stall. Same thing it was doing with the E85 flash.

Should I reflash, look at something hardware wise, or is this just somewhat normal operation for a flashed car?

Thank you!

Email me and I can make a similar change in the RACE file to test.
