My understanding you need the BCM cable. I was hoping if you didn't have that you could possibly run map 7 anyways, but I guess that is wrong and would possibly cause issues....unless somebody here tried running map 7 without the BCM?

The short answer is it depends.

You need good fuel, like unleaded racing fuel, or a 30% E85 mixture. You need the fuel wires connected to the DME. You need a BCM installed. And then it may work or your N63 may misfire at higher boost levels, requiring additional hardware changes, like new spark plugs, etc.

The firmware is not in the first post to avoid people loading it on the wrong system, but you can always email in for it.

Hey Terry,
I have a 2011 550i MT
JB4 beta with BCM
freeflowing exhaust
Intakes
New spark plugs
all new coil packs

My trims are maxing out and sometimes at WOT it will throw the malfunction code.
Would you mind taking a look at the logs? Where can i send them or post them at?
Do you guys have the ability to adjust the JB4 tune?
Been racking my brain with this for a while.

Set your FOL to 80 and see if that helps...that's what I had to do on mine.

It's via the JB4 app, Settings tab, User Adjustment, scroll down until you see Fuel Open Loop.

James.
Do you use Map 6? If you use it what kind of fuel?

I have try to change the boost value but I can't save it.
Its show me "Valid boost safety failsafe is 0-21". Boost safety is 22 Psi.

Is't so you can only change FOL at Map 6?

I can't explain as to why, but sometimes the truck will randomly feel like it's getting slower after a week or two of being on either map. Map 1 adds +4psi to the whatever tune you're running, so with mine being a stage 2+ tune, I'll average 19-21psi. Eventually that tapers down to the 16-18 range, so I'll switch to map 6 which I've changed settings to make it do what map 1 would normally push.

Be careful with map 6 though...I'm doing this off of memory, but anything below 10psi on map 6 is adding that boost value to your tune, ie if your tune commands 15psi and you have map 6 on 8psi, then it's going to try and push 23psi combined...not recommended. I have my map 6 taper from 15, 17, 19, and then 21psi from like 3500 to redline.

While your max boost may be set at 22psi, I assume you're having an issue saving it. I experienced the same thing. Long story short but go into the app settings and change your vehicle from an E-series (which I believe didn't have any TU engines) to an F-series (which I believe are all TU engines) and you'll be able to save settings and push more boost.

At the moment I run pump gas, 93 octane from Shell seems to feel the best of the Top Tier gases I use vs Chevron, Texaco or Arco. I tried an E30 mix last winter and it seemed to have throttling issues that showed in my logs. Maybe I was mixing too much, maybe it didn't like the cold, etc so I'd stopped using it. After readings these threads again and it being summer here in Seattle, I decided to try E30 again late last night (went through 1/4 tank while racing buddies, one in a Hellcat (beat me, obviously) and one in an E60 M5 (barely walked him, but walked him so I'm happy) then myself in the X5M on 22's) so I went small and added 3 gallons of E85 and the rest being 93 octane. Map 3 only hit around 17psi even though the JB4 claims it's supposed to maintain 19psi. I switched back to map 1 and it's my usual 19-21psi. I'll see what it does today while OMW to work since it's about 15* warmer than it was last night after filling up.

Someone reading this can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that adjusting the FOL will be applied to all maps so long as the JB4 is on. I'm not sure if the FOL goes back to the stock 60 if the JB4 is turned off (map 0 and/or map 4).

Aren't you running a S63 engine? While I'm guessing most of this information is still applicable to the N63, but if you're running an S63, then maybe we should move this convo over to the S63 JB4 thread.

So, running about 101 octane (109 race fuel mixed with 91)
Tested on map 7 and 2
Map 7, Still threw a malfunction code
Map 2, felt better that before but fuel trims are STILL maxed out.
Grrr this is starting to be very frustrating.

I don't have meth yet, so I haven't touched map 7 yet. As mentioned above, I'm bouncing between 1 & 6 so long as I'm maintaining above 19psi.

Can't meth be turned on with all maps?
Are you stock or flashed?
If meth can be run on map 1 and you're tuned, have you tried map 1?

Map 2 gets me to 17psi.
Map 7 hits 18psi before throwing the code.
I need someone from BMS to review the logs and see whats going on.
I havent used Map 6 but maybe thats gonna be my best bet.

Note: When logging with JB4, it shows fuel trims at 43 to 44, when logging with another very popular program, my LTFT are around -10% and STFT are from 0% to -2% sometimes
This confuses me. What are "Trims" in the JB4 interface?
Maxed out trims makes me think its trying to add fuel but negative LTFT is it pulling fuel because its too rich.
What am i missing here?

Also, does anyone know how to reset the adaptives on the PCM?

You didn't answer my questions. Also, read above about raising your FOL. Consider trims to be like injector duty cycle and you're maxing out the duty cycle. Bump up your FOL and that'll help.

You can post your logs in the logs subforum but they're not going to get answered on this thread.

I changed the FOL the day you suggested it. It had no affect. Should i raise it more?
Stock before the JB4 Beta.
Im not running Meth. Running map 7 with race fuel only, which i was told was fine by BMS over email.
