Methanol or Ethanol as an octane boost -
02-07-2021, 06:29 AM
I’m currently travelling for work and there is no premium fuel grades available in the area. Is it possible to add say a 3%-5% methanol or ethanol into the tank when I fill up to raise the octane level up?
Would there be any detrimental effects to the stock fuel system and engine? Car is running JB4.

Don't put meth in your gas.

As stated, you can add some ethanol or octane boost to increase the octane. Just keep an eye on your trims if adding ethanol but 5% should be fine.

Hey Steve, quick question about fuel
I'm putting together a build on my FBO n54, target is 600 awhp using new Twins.
can I add port meth using just the stand alone MAP activated controller to make that power, or will that constant spray of meth be inconsistent for trim and AFR values.
My preference would be port WMI or helix HPFP
I don't have ethanol here.
Thanks.

I would suggest our DPMI kit integrated with the JB4 and the BMS PI controller, then it will be PWM controlled and only run under boost.
