Any update on the TU3 intake? -
11-13-2020, 03:52 PM
Wondering if it’s coming soon or if I should just pick up a couple of ***** and filters to make my own?

We're evaluating it still on this end.

Thanks. If its a go and you need a tester, just let me know. I'm gonna mess around with some ***** and filters while I wait.

Haven't gotten a GM 2L in house to work on that yet. Sourcing the cars for these small projects is always the headache!

Yeah, that’s kinda what I figured. Well, if you decide to take a Florida vacation, I got one sitting here until July when the lease ends.

Would the M5/M8 BMS intake not fit on the TU3?

That’s what I wanted to do when Terry was selling a used one. He told me to hold off because they were working on an M550 one. I’m thinking the M5/8 one may use 3.5” piping, and the M550/750/850 couplers are only 3”.

It's similar but I don't think it fits. We'll track down a local car sooner or later to make the required adjustments!

Lets bump this up. Any updates on the intake?
Not too worried about the 2.0T. Lease return is scheduled for 7/27, and they're coming on 4/20 to do a pre-inspection, so I'm pretty sure thats not happening. We tired.

How is your M550 running with the JB4 now Mike? Just wondering if you are using it with only the TMAP connections until an adapter is available for the waste gate connections.

I don’t have the JB4 installed. I’m waiting for the intakes and wastegate harnesses. Since I’m gonna have to pull the driver side air box anyway, there’s no sense in doing it twice.

Do we have any idea when the waste gate harness adapters will be available?

Interesting. The air box location used on the TU3 is one of the coolest places in the engine bay. The old location was the hottest. So theoretically open cones should work okay on this motor in the cars (I don’t have an SUV to check). I’d probably stick them in the air box bottoms to make sure the intercooler heat stayed away though.

Anything happening? I did one, but it’s still sucking through the small 3” piping. Need something bigger. Wonder if the M5 inlets will fit…

Yeah. They’re ridiculously overpriced, and I’m not thrilled with the idea of putting the filters behind the grilles, especially since the flaps are closed a lot of the time.

Dinan just released some nice inlets for the F90. Would take some market demand for development of G30&G15 variants I guess.

Have you seen the price on the Dinan system? It costs as much as a turbo!

I'm happy with cleaned out OEM airboxes and BMC drop ins right now. Just for the turbo sounds if nothing else.

That’s what I’m running too for now. At least until I find some way to secure the conical filters.

You have a point. What’s your thoughts on PURE turbos?

I've never used Pure Turbos, but I've also never heard anybody complain about them, which is rare. If I was doing turbos, it would be theirs.

I bet the BMS F90 intakes will fit. I might buy them and see maybe Terry can guarantee me a refund if they don't?
