Terry, I have a 2021 CX-5 grand touring reserve. Guessing you send the unit and instructions on how to install and provide data back? How involved is the install? Guessing worst case of there were any issues, simply disconnect and you are back to stick, warranty in tact

New here, but I’ve been following closely. I’d be glad to test on my 2020 cx5 signature turbo. I have a corksport intake installed. I have access to 93 octane and 100% gas 93 readily. Usually just run the “normal” 93 octane. Just rolled over 5000 miles.
Either way, I’ll have one of these eventually!

Can we have a estimate on how much longer before this tune is released for use? Thanks! :burnru bber:

It's taking forever as we've been swamped with routine business so it's hard to dedicate the time to make more BETA units, which we have to do by hand at this point. Hopefully soon.

Any chance you can do some 0-60 pulls with the new tune? Would love to see what kind of gains you’ve come up with!

0-60 doesnt say much, it's more the MPH at the end of a quarter mile that tells you the power!
0-60 is too much about grip and surface.

Terry, I’m interested in being an additional CX tester. I’m a 2019 CX-9 driver that puts on about 60k miles per year, spirited driver, with all the tools/crumpets to put your kit together myself our splice into existing wiring as needed. I also have a my own lift and plan on doing corksport FMIC, AEM intake, custom down pipe, etc. let me know how I can help your development.

I have a 2019 CX5 turbo/awd, and I highly recommend the Corksport FMIC with piping kit upgrade! Just know that it's a really tight fit/little wiggle room between connections. Make sure to tighten the crap out of those worm clamps! Hit up Mazdas247 forums for more info! Best of luck!

Beta units? -
05-15-2021, 07:59 PM
I see on the JB4 website that the item is backordered. Will there be test phase soon too beta test this tune? If so i'd love to buy one and log data for you guys. It is almost summertime. I am getting summer tires for my car and it is the perfect time to test this tune. A late June release would be great even if it's beta unit's.

I think you guys should find some extra time to dedicate to this tune. Also, It has been a while since we were updated on this project and another update can't hurt even if nothing happened. This engine hasn't got any real tunes and to be the first company to release one means that you won't have any competition. In other words, the only option for people to tune their Mazda turbo engines would be JB4. This would increase sales. I know the Honda accord 2.0t and 1.5t have multiple tunes from companies like you, Ktuner, and Hondata. Right now for this 2.5T engine, all that's available are physical parts that are expensive and only give you 3-5 hp gains which are not noticeable at all. I'd definitely buy into this the day of release. I really appreciate all the effort the JB4 group has put in so far even though we are all in tough times and I am 110% hyped for release! :

It looks like there’s a new stable firmware update for the JB4 beta unit I have. I’ll flash it either tonight or tomorrow and see how it goes.

Some more adjustments were made on the JB4 Beta based on data logged.
Car is noticeably quicker tuned than untuned, and as we get more dialed in (as Terry gives direction I'm just a data logger at this point), the better opportunities we'll have for fine tuning performance parts from other manufacturers! Or even from BMS with whatever they have planned.
With MazdaEdit supporting some aspects of this engine, between the two we should have pretty solid control over much of the vehicle's performance until a one stop shop solution is completed.
Some parts like intake, big brake kit (lighter rotational mass), performance lowering springs, possible coilover and shock upgrades, (to help keep power down), and exhaust are soon to be released by CS for example (in no real order or timeframe on some items that I'm aware of), which'll change things and hopefully unlock more potential and safer power delivery with a smoother band of acceleration and hopefully some top end power.
