Default Trying to get into the 11s - 04-05-2019, 07:54 AM

Hello, Iím looking to get the car down into the 11s. I had a good track day yesterday and was running 12.1s all night but just couldnít get it any faster and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Iím running some Michelin pilot super sport 255s in the rear at 25psi. The tune is E85 backend flash w/e40 on map2. My 60í was between 1.99 and 2.04. Launching in first gear at around 1800rpm with first gear capped at 10 then 12psi. The trap speed was between 116-118mph. The car spun alittle but it felt very stong up top. Not looking to go to a lsd just yet, so Iím not sure if 11s are possible without it. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Different tires. An LSD isn't really going to help you.

Maybe post a log?
It's possible we'll see where more can be extracted.
I'm wondering about your timing and if you can target 18 PSI, rather than what I believe is 17 PSI.

What RPM do you hit second?

I'm curious if 1st is capped at 13-15 PSI, 2nd not capped, then switch into second at 4500 RPM, right as boost peaks and it might start spinning. (or 4000)

Start in 2nd.
Shift right around 5,300, no later than 5,700.

Another thing that may help is don't drive trough the water box. Back into it. The little bit of water your fronts pick up might be adding to traction loss. Keep them dry and do a good burnout, see smoke, perfect.

I’ll give 2nd a try, as for a burnout I’ll have to see. I have the anti-lag chip installed and when I hold the brake and attempt to spin the tires the anti-lag activates, I may need to remove it.

What firmware ?
I have anti lag and it does not activate when brake boosting.

Have you played around with boost cap ?
What power are you making at the wheels ?
2nd gear launch is slower, but you save a shift time between 1st and 2nd. Depending on power and torque and weight of vehicle, this can help or not help. Works for some, but not all.
Stickier tires and raise boost cap is what I would do.

Why wouldnt an LSD help? srs

Because he's not spinning enough to benefit from additional traction, or LSDs in general dont improve ETs?

Don't you have to hold down the left volume-down button while heating tires in the burnout box to bypass the 2-step? I thought I ready Terry mentioning this...

For me, the LSD made me more consistent, not faster. I would bounce between 1.7 and 2.1 prior. Now I'm consistent 1.8's on street tire.
The best things for straight line are a good tune and good tire.

Dropping air pressure in street tires only create drag, and rolling resistance suffers. Tires are the most important part of any race car, this makes or breaks the race. The sidewalls on a street tire are to hard and will not deflect like a drag tire, temp is also very important, you will see a big difference between a cold tire vs a warm/hot tire, the burnout helps bring them up to temp. If this is an avenue, then a drag radial will help you even with out a lsd. The rpms seem low and should be brought up, 1800 is low for a boosted car. Definitely work on second gear launches, while ramping up the rpms, you donít want to work into your power band, but to be in it when you leave the line.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll try running around 34 in the rear tires and leaving in second.

Looks like weíre very close to having the same set up, when you launch in 2nd what rpm are you leaving at?

I just get up on the converter, 1,400 maybe. It won't let me do much more or I push through the light.
Generally leave on about 4-6psi. I've tried more and just blow tires off.
I have better tires this year though so hopefully I can try more and drop my 60' more.

So you set your boost cap in 2nd to 5-6

No. I build about 5-6 staging.
I make something like 25psi max.

Nope. 100% factory stock, 136,000 miles on em too.
It's been pushing that much boost for about 80,000 miles now. Average 120 drag passes a year, 2 hpde's, 5 auto-x's and about 40 hours of ice racing, on top of being my DD and all the street pulls.

Save your time and money and upgrade the turbos already...stop beating a dead horse, there's no more.

Well the only way to do it is to increase your terminal speed or better yet lower your 60ft times.

I did 11.77@119 on stock turbos with meth injection. Try more ethanol. That'll give you more power. See if you can up the boost and/or the timing.

UK FBO 335i, GCs, JB4, PI meth, BMS CP, OCC, Braided brake lines. Diff Lockdown. TMAP sensor, custom bucketless stage2

11.79@119mph on stockers, CP meth (UK, Santa Pod)
11.74@129mph on GCs, custom port meth injection.
