Default BOV - Tial vs Turbosmart - 03-29-2016, 06:56 AM

What are you running, which do you prefer, and why?

I'm trying to decide between a Tial and a Turbosmart Race Port.

I've got the new BMS Chinese Tial flanged CP.

I just installed my TiAL with VRSF CP. Very non-ricey. I think most people will vote for the TiAL simply because it is a lot more popular than the TurboSmart setup.

Come over and I'll give you a ride.

Ive had both. Both perform nice, but I just liked the tial look (like a hand grenade) and the tial sound better. 100% personal preference.

Turbosmart all the way!! (I started with a Tial)

Tials are most common as they are included with all the CP kits currently.. My opinion is that is because they are cheaper, and comparing them side by side, you can certainly quantify this statement in the materials used.

http://www.bmwgarage.com.au/index.ph...vs-turbosmart/

Also, do a search on he countless Tial issues related to quality, spring issues, leaks etc.. And other than the 'sound' comments from the ricers, look up what the BOV's actual function is, and how important that is to your turbos... Then make a decision.

My $0.02

I've tried both, I am 100% sold on Turbosmart for two reasons:

1) The springs in the TS have a much larger vacuum range, meaning they can work in more applications.

2) The TS is a lot smaller than the Tial, which is unnecessarily large

If you put an HKS on your car, just sell it and buy a rainbow colored Honda because you are going to look and sound like a flaming dumpster faggot rolling down the road.

So true. There is this trust fund kid that lives close to me with that BOV and I want to burn his car down every time I hear him ricing around

I currently have the HKS bov, I don't see what's wrong with it? I personally like it but that's my opinion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Why does everyone hate it?

I had a Tial on my old 3000GT VR4, it's functional but too quite for me (also pretty large). I also had a Greddy Type S on my Evo X, it was functional but the novelty of the high pitch sound wore off quickly. Now I have a Tubosmart, it's also functional and has that Goldielocks quality, not too quiet but not too loud. The sound is also not high pitched, it's just a rush off air.

His tial makes this strange 2 stage blow off noise when we're just cruising around town and my ts doesn't.
