Default Consistently misfiring on cylinder 6 under wot - 09-14-2015, 04:13 PM

I am constantly misfiring on cylinder 6. I have replaced the coil pack, all injectors are new index 12. Replaced by the dealer less than 10k miles ago. It does not misfire on any other cylinder nor does it do it under any other throttle percent. It does it if I run pump flash with 93 octane, race flash, or even e85 flash ...it does it with all e85 mixes....it does it with methanol spraying....I have tried map 1,2,3,5,6,&7 on jb4. I have NGK plugs gapped to .22. I am FBO, 455 lpfp, BMS meth kit. 2008 n54 with 55k miles. I have logs and I'm trying to figure out how to attach them. It does look like that bank is running richer by the AFR numbers. Maybe a leaky injector? Could it be a jb4 setting? Thank you for any help!

How many miles on the plugs and coils?
Last walnut blast?
Does the misfire result in a code?

If there is a code, try moving the coil to another cylinder and the plug to another cylinder (different than where you move the coil to) and see if the code follows.

Use *********** to upload logs.

Less than 1k miles on plugs and coils. I have replaced the coil twice...( I have new spare coils) walnut blast was 10k ago According to BMW records, no code other than misfire on cylinder 6 and that cylinder cuts off. I clear the code and make sure I don't hit wot. I have inlets coming in within the next couple weeks and want to Dyno the car. I will need wot...lol

you need to post in the support section, you'll get more help in there anyway. Post logs with it. Also need to know if you manual or auto and if the rpm it's happening at is consistent.

logs? manual? auto? what rpm do you see the misfires at? Have you tried swapping injectors and recoding to see if it follows?

It could also be a boost leak.

Post the CSV files here and we'll look at the logs.

Auto, I have not swapped the injectors yet.it does this at multiple rpm ranges. I guess that will be the next item.

Have you selected 4/2 with your steering wheel controls?

I pulled the plug today and it looked fine. I swapped the coils on 1 and 6 and the misfire still occurred on cylinder 6 under wot.

Latest 2 logs. It goes lean on AFR2 right before it throws the misfire code and turns off the cylinder.

The moment I hit WOT I get a misfire on cylinder 6... Any rpm. I can post a gradual increase in throttle or maybe 75%. Just can't put it to the floor.

Okay, your rail pressures are really unstable. Was thinking it may in part be due to the logs and needs to adapt but its really bad.

with the car on but not running, have you done a 1/7 with the steering wheel controls?

You're not getting any other codes?

The only codes I get are the misfires on 5 or 6. 90 percent of the time it's 6. Sometimes it says multiple misfires. I will try to rest the adaptions with 1/7. Any particular driving behavior you would suggest after I reset them? Thank you for your responses and help! Btw I have your stage 2 kit

No problem and thanks.

Just drive normal for a bit, you shouldn't really notice anything after the adaptions reset.

If you have an INPA cable you can reset your fuel control valve adaptions as well.

I reset all adaptions this morning. I put about 75 miles on the car and decided to do a pull. It still gave me a misfire on #6. The log is attached.

Map 2 log as well, so you can see it still does it without meth. Still the only code is #6 misfire.

Which flash are you running?

The rail pressures are very erratic.

FCV, HPFP, injector....not totally sure. I'd verify the injectors were installed and coded correctly. From there I'd probably go to an HPFP since it's so erratic.

I am running the JB4 backend e85 flash from BMS. The injectors were installed by the dealer so there is no telling if they were done correctly. I will check the injector instalation and coding. From the records pulled at my local dealership the HPFP was replaced when the injectors were around 10k ago. I will admit if I just run 93 it misfires much less than when I run e85 mixes.

Oh and what is FCV? Sorry I'm still learning about this car. Thank you for all of your help.
