Default Finally saw an F80 M3 - 04-14-2014, 03:48 PM

Hey guys,

I happened to be by the dealer earlier today and they had a BMW executive there with a development car. To my glee he agreed to open the hood so I could take a closer look provided no photos were taken.

Overall the packaging in the engine bay looks impressive. And I'm confident the F30 Stage1 & JB4 tuning we've developed will mostly carry over. It runs dual electronic wastegates. Also runs a 3.5 bar MAP sensor so I expect it makes some decent boost from the factory. Hopefully more when we're done with it.

Our F80 M3 is finally being built as I type this. They tell me to expect it in early June. Can't wait!

Can't wait to see what you can do with the M4 power wise. I will wait for the competition package to become available before I order mine.

Nice! Awesome luck! I just checked the paperwork at my work today to see when our first m3/m4's will arrive. Looks like mid June here.

Can't wait to see what you do with it. What color options did you go with? When you're done tuning it do you think it'll be quicker than your M5?

Cannot wait for you to start developing on the F80's. I plan to build one in the next year or two, hopefully by then you will have some good tuning and other goodies for it

You don't get any choices on options. For the launch cars you take what you can get. I think it's white with black interior.

Won't be faster than the M5 but with tuning in place I think it should manage 120mph+ traps otherwise stock. The M5 does 127-130mph depending on fuel used.

I just gotta ask, do you get to write off all of these awesome cars you buy as a business expense? I'm so jealous.

Basically yes any dollar BMS spends for legitimate business use is tax deductible as you only pay tax on profit.

Having all these nice BMWs around is a dream come true... until we have to write the checks for them.

Was looking into that...

F10 M5
4300lbs
678whp (BMS Tune+93oct+***+Meth)
6.34lbs/whp

F80 M3
3500lbs
552whp
6.34lbs/whp

Stock S55 turbos max boost 18psi 425hp (factory rating)

I saw a website with an RB N54 pushing 22.5psi and dynoed at 553whp

I really am interested to see what a +4psi bump could do to the S55....

+4 psi on the new s55, about 50rwhp, i think the car stock will put down in the dyno jet from 385rwhp to 395, who knows

with terry's tune on pump gas i think it will hit 430rwhp..

How much more boost do you think those turbos can flow? Are they much larger than the N54 twins? N54 twins at 18 psi are close to max capacity. I do not believe the S55 turbos are of an RB class.

Just watched a YouTube clip of the F80 M3 exhaust and it sounds like our N54's with **'s and BMW PE. Interested to see what it sounds like in person.

S55 is running TF035 turbos

N54 runs TD03 turbos

Subaru uses the TF035 and after some googling I found several forum posts saying that people are running it @ 15psi for years with no problems.

I can see 22-25psi being a reality in a tuned S55...MONSTER!

I'd have to pick the color! Looking on the BMW web site the blue looks a little funky, but likely it's close to the Montego or Interlagos Blue (I hope - my favorites, with the LeMans Blue close behind - What I have now..). Looked at some other images on the web and I'm not digging the Yas Marina Blue. I might be in the market for a 2015 or 2016 M3 in 2018 or 2019 if I found the right one. The grey interior is what I'd prefer, or the beige would be OK. So if anyone gets one of these, keep in touch for when you want to sell it!
