Exclamation Oil on BOV (normal?) and meth bung (???) - 08-31-2016, 03:04 AM

Car doesn't seem to be pulling as hard and I noticed there's oil on meth bung which I find a bit odd?

I retightened the bung and managed to turn the nut about 1/4 . Could this be the culprit or is it normal?

I've got oil residue all around my BOV. These cars have oil blow by issues, just is what it is. Even with a catch can I've still got some oil around the bov.

^ exactly. Some oil will collect in the charge pipe. So oil outside the blow off valve suggests it's leaking out, which suggests a likely boost leak. Take off the bung screw or meth inlet and rewrap with Teflon tape and reinstall.

I've always assumed oil outside the BOV as standard due to blow by?

No oil on mine and I have oem dvs. I've always head that means there is a leak which is obvious if oil escapes. Check the dv orings they sell them at Lowe's in plumbing same.size

My car would do this until I installed the RB external PCV system now it stays clean. I have had my IC and piping out a few times since the install and everything is much cleaner.

Good to hear as I've had a RB PCV sitting around not installed!

I assume that meth bung is causing a boost leak also, so will seal it up good to ensure it doesn't leak again.
