Default 335i (Hexon RR600) vs. 135i (stock turbos) - both N54 6MT - 06-22-2016, 07:09 AM

I know the guy pretty well. We've raced many times, before and after a lot of different mods. Both of our cars are set up pretty good and we're both good drivers.

The video above is the best in my opinion. We booth floored it at the same time and it was just the most fair, even race. I have a few more videos of runs though.

Here's one where he brake boosted (I didn't, big difference) and then I reeled him in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85DA6_aNmZE

And here is the first race we did. He started in 3rd (wrong gear, IMO). I wasn't sure if he'd pull back up top but I just kept pulling away).

nice pulls your cars running strong! so was the difference worth the investment on the rr600 car?

He wasn't very happy about it. He's gonna try turning up the boost after this one...

Wow, very surprising. This really does not help the case of upgraded hybrids. Your car is pulling very well man.

Thanks guys. I will admit, my car pulls like a freight train for stock turbos. I've surprised many people. N54 FTW!

The weight difference is not being mentioned. I think a 335i sedan is 300-400lbs heavier than a 135i coupe. (based on internet data).

Not my fault he bought the heavier car

But yeah, I do have a slight weight advantage.

Nice! Looks like those 135's are really quick. The only 135 I've ran was an N55

For me, weight is my number 1 secret weapon against cars with more power. My 1 has definitely surprised me more times than I care to admit over the years. I think that as with any turbo upgrade, proper customized tuning becomes key in terms of extracting the most perfomance, both on the BEF side of things, as well as proper JB4 setting/tuning.

Thanks for sharing the vids! 135 FTMFW!

The 1 series still weights more than it should, no doubt.

I'm sure it helps that I keep my car in tip-top shape. Fresh injectors, coils, plugs, and a walnut blast over winter.

Something does not add up here, I've witnessed similar race and hexon 335 (4) door pulled on 135 big time every time

its easy to see if there truly is a flaw if they both post up logs from their runs....

One of my better logs from yesterday (135i stock turbos, 22psi peak):
http://***********/u/suspenceful/map-...1-3-4-11-18-19

One of his logs from the week before. I'd assume he's running the same settings (335i Hexons, 23psi peak):

I raced a 135i in my 335i and I had 4 people in the car. I was running a mildly aggressive e85 map and the 135i was running a 93octane map. I won by two cars and I don't know how.

Tuning is very important.

Now that's really surprising. You need to dyno your cars both.
I have seen your videos and your car is running really strong for a stock turbo.

Yeah, mine seems to be a bit of a freak from a roll. I need to get on a good dyno now that I have good tires. Last time, it kept spinning tire in 4th.

He's on a more conservative tune with room to turn up the boost yet, but yeah. If you were in WI, we could run and you'd kick my ass. Those PS2 are no joke.
